Hey David thanks for continuing to help! however the problem persists
Microsoft Edge changed .xml to 'Microsoft Edge HTML Document' files.
I was trying to do reagentc /enable in the SMD after formating my Disk because I was having trouble installing the new security update. But it says that Windows RE wasn´t found, but, somehow, the .XML file changed their file type to 'Microsoft Edge HTML Document'
I'd like to change the file type back to .XML. What app should I choose for 'default open app' since is in the System32 Recovery file

2024-01-29T06:30:26+00:00 Hi FERNANDEZ! Thanks for updating me on the results.
In this case, we'll need to download a Windows 10 ISO image. You can download it using the Media Creation Tool from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...
Run the tool, and when it asks what type of installation media you want to create, select ISO. Save the file to your desktop.
Once the Windows 10 ISO image is downloaded, double-click it to mount it as a virtual drive. Go to File Explorer and select "This PC". There, you'll see your C: drive, and you should also see a drive where the ISO file has been mounted, usually named "ESD-ISO". Take note of the drive letter where it's mounted; it's typically F:, but it might be different in your case.
Now, open the C: drive and create a new folder named "mount". Open this folder, click on the "View" tab at the top, and check the "Hidden items" box. After that, launch CMD as an administrator and execute the following commands:
- diskpart
- list disk
- sel disk 0
- list part
- sel part 4
- del part override
- exit
- dism /mount-wim /wimfile:"f:\sources\install.wim" /index:1 /mountdir:c:\mount /readonly
Note: In this case, the F: drive is used, assuming it's the letter of the drive where the Windows 10 ISO image is mounted. Please change the drive letter if the virtual drive has a different letter.
Now, once the above process is completed, go to the "mount" folder we created and navigate to Windows > System32 > Recovery. In this folder, copy the "Winre.wim" file and paste it into the "C:\Windows\System32\Recovery" directory.
Back in CMD, run:
- dism /unmount-image /mountdir:c:\mount /discard
- reagentc /enable
- reagentc /info
Let me know the results of the previously executed commands. I'll be waiting for your next message. Regards.

2024-01-29T23:34:52+00:00 Hi FERNANDEZ! It's a pleasure to continue helping you.
In this case, you shouldn't create the "mount" folder in system32; you should create it in the root directory of the C: drive. Simply go to C: and once you open the drive, create the new folder. You shouldn't enter any other folders to create it.
Alternatively, you can create it from CMD with the following command:
md c:\mount\
Once the folder is created, run again the command that generated an error in the screenshot you shared with me, along with the other commands I provided. Let me know if you have any more questions or if any other issues arise. I'll be attentive. Regards.
