I was trying to do reagentc /enable in the SMD after formating my Disk because I was having trouble installing the new security update. But it says that Windows RE wasn´t found, but, somehow, the .XML file changed their file type to 'Microsoft Edge HTML Document'

I'd like to change the file type back to .XML. What app should I choose for 'default open app' since is in the System32 Recovery file

Hi FERNANDEZ! Thank you for staying in touch and continuing to provide screenshots with the results obtained.

Again, thanks for the screenshots. Although everything seems to be in order, it's strange that the code to re-enable WinRe is not working. We will now try to manually set the path in case there is any issue with the default one. To do this, run the following commands from CMD as an administrator:

    • reagentc /setreimage /path C:\windows\system32\recovery
    • reagentc /enable
    • reagentc /info

Let me know if setting the path for WinRe has had an effect. Regards.

Hello David I'm glad to inform you that the code has function.

I just have some questions about the Windows ISO we installed, Will it continue to appear as one of my disk or can I uninstalled it, also there's a windows file that I suppose is the ISO, if I move it where should I do it. I mostly want them gone, but I dont know if uninstalling them would messed up something.

And sincerly Ithank you for all the support

Hi FERNANDEZ! Thank you for staying in touch and updating me on the results. I'm delighted to hear that WinRe has been enabled without any issues.

Regarding your questions, yes, you can unmount the Windows 10 ISO by right-clicking and selecting "Eject" to unmount it.

You can safely delete the Windows 10 ISO image as its purpose has been fulfilled. Similarly, you can also delete the "ESD" folder we created on the Windows desktop, as these files have also served their purpose.

It has been a pleasure assisting you. Remember, if you have another question, feel free to post a new one in the Microsoft community. Best regards.
