Unable to view any JPG (JPEG) files on my PC

Hi all,

Quite literally, yesterday morning I was able to see my photos that I had downloaded and saved to my hard drive. I would be able to view these in the default picture app in windows.

Then after lunch, I get a pop window saying that "The application has not been provisioned" which is quite understandably, frustrating. This is for each and every photo I have tried on my PC, including those that have been on my PC for years.

I have done the investigative thing and followed some of the guidance that I have found on this site and others but they either fail to remedy the situation or just don't work (some instructions do not match what I see on my version of Windows). I have even tried restoring to an earlier time period and after a day and a half of waiting, it still did not rectify the issue

I am running an old Acer (i5-6400@2.7GHz) and Windows 10 Home Version 22H2 (OS Build 19045.3930)

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

Pete

Hi, I'm Dave, I'll help you with this.

This is an issue that many people are reporting, it is caused by a Windows update or a Photos app update and none of the usual options to fix this work, such as resetting, repairing or reinstalling the Photos app.

The best option is to open the Feedback Center (Windows key + F) and report this bug to its developers there, the more people who report this, the sooner they will provide a patch for this.

    Dave,

Thank you so very much for your reply. Hadn’t jumped back into my home pc for a couple of days to do what you advised.

But guess what, I went to check to see if the error was still persistent but it has now gone?! ****?!

So to all that encounter this problem….turn off your PC, ignore it for a couple of days and do not show it any love, then come back to it, power it up and it will be working just like that!!

Looking for that email from Microsoft as their new lead in software troubleshooting!!

Cheers again, Dave, for taking the time to respond! Really appreciate it!!

    Cheers
