How to actively close a file sharing connection on the client machine

I am NOT sitting on the machine hosting the shared folder, I am using another machine to simply access this shared folder on the hosting machine. When I m done, the connection always remain open for the duration of the uptime of the client machine and I dont want to have to log out or restart the client machine to close the connection down.

How can I ACTIVELY close my own file sharing sessions towards the other machine that is hosting the shared resource without having to reboot or log out?
