Since the automatic update on 3/10/2021, I can no longer print my graphics in my documents on a regular printer or print to PDF.  They come out as black boxes.  Also, when I try to do a system restore, it tells me there are not restore points on my computer, which I know there were before the update.  Help!!

Hello Andrea,

I'm John an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I'll be happy to assist you today.

Recent updates in March caused some printers to crash and print incorrectly.

Microsoft is already aware of the issue and is working on a fix.

As a workaround, Please try uninstalling the recent March updates

Press Start then click Settings(Gear icon)

Select Update and Security > View update history

Click Uninstall Updates

Under Microsoft Windows, select the most recent updates then Click Uninstall

Note: Find KB5000802 in the list and uninstall it first

Wait for the updates to uninstall

Restart your PC

Kindly let me know if this helps or if you have any further concerns.

Sincerely,

John DeV

Is there a patch or a fix yet for the issues caused by the KB5000082 update? This update keeps automatically installing on my computer every couple of days and causes my computer to crash when I try to print, when I try to copy and paste text into Excel and once when I just tried to open Excel. I would think after a month, there should be a fix! I try to remember to check to see if it needs to be uninstalled each morning, but some days I have to dive right into work and forget until I get the "blue screen of death" at the most inopportune moment.

Already there. Please install the optional update manually available on your device. I have given the manual links here too which you can use. KB5001649 is what you need to install.

We have approximately 85 computers running Windows 10 in our organization printing to a variety of printers from various manufacturers.  All computers with KB5000802 installed are only printing partially (depending on the application.)  KB5001567 does not fix this problem.  The only thing that fixes it for now is uninstalling KB5000802.  Microsoft needs to provide a fix quickly for this issue with basic functionality.

Microsoft released out-of-band updates on 3/15/2021 to fix the Windows 10 printing issues (APC_INDEX_MISMATCH BSOD) (see Windows 10: Out-of-band Update for Blue Screen printing bug).

While it fixes the BSOD printing issues on many affected systems, I received feedback from readers, that the BSOD issue wasn't fixed. And even more, there are printing errors during printing graphics (JPEG, TIFF etc.) - the image wasn't printed complete. All issues has been confirmed from several users and are caused by Marc 9, 2021 security update. I guess, there is also a GDI bug, that causes this behavior.

A summary may be found at Windows 10: Still printing issues after update installation (March 2021). I'm escalating this thread now to forwared it to Microsoft moderators in the hope, it will be forwarded to the developers - to let them do their unsolved home work.
