Teams & Stream

Hi All,

I have a query that relates to Teams and its interaction with Stream.

When you create a new team (Class) in MS Teams, does this then mean you have created a 365 group? If so, would this then show as a group in Stream? If so, how long does it take to show in Stream after creation in Teams?

I ask this question because at the beginning of the lockdown, I created my teams for my different learner groups and they appeared as groups in Stream. I then go into these Stream groups and add a channel called 'Online Lessons'. I then set up a Stream tab in the general channel called Online Lessons and used the Stream channel that I set up as the pathway. This now means that once I have delivered online lessons that I have recorded in the general channel, I can go into Stream and set the permissions to the Online lessons channel of the group and they show up in my Stream tab. This means that all my online lessons are found in one place under the Online Lessons tab in the General channel in Teams. However, I am trying to do the same again and the team I create in MS Teams is not showing up in Stream. (Sorry it is so long winded and probably confusing :o).

Any guidance on this would be greatly appreciated.

Leon

    Hi Leon,

According to the official document, if Microsoft 365 Groups are created or changed in other Microsoft 365 services, there could be a 1-2 hours delay before those changes show up in Stream.

Likewise, Groups created in Stream could take some time before they show up other places in Microsoft 365, depending on the other application.

For more details, please refer to this article:
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/stream/groups-channels-overview#microsoft-365-groups.

I also tested in my lab. After I create a new team, it takes about 50 minutes to show up the group in Stream.
