    Hi Nightearth -

I'm Jerico T., one of the Independent Advisor and a fellow Windows 10 user like you. I understand that you're having some issues right now, let us sort things out.

Yes there's a way to reinstall Windows on your computer without losing your personal data. There are 2 methods, please perform any of the methods below and check if any of the methods will resolve your concern.

    Method 1: In-Place Repair

    • In-place repair/upgrade or repair reinstall is a process of re-installing Windows without touching any of your applications or personal files. In this way if there's any data corruption, damaged system files or missing system files on your computer, this repair will fix or repair them.

To start we need to download an ISO file of Windows 10 and save it to your computer. Please follow the instruction on the link below to create an ISO file

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/402819...

After the ISO is created, follow the instructions on the link below created by PaulSey, Microsoft Agent, on how to perform repair install on your computer.

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

This process will take some time to complete so you need to be very patient in waiting until the process completes. Once done , restart your computer and check if the issue is resolved.

    Method 2: Custom Install

    • a process wherein you will reinstall windows (latest version) on your computer using an ISO file and once the setup is done, you can recover your personal data/files on Windows.old folder. If you wish to proceed, please click the link below.

Feel free to reach back if you need any further assistance.

Hope this help. Have a good day.

    Thank you.

    HI Jerico ,

    Sorry for late reply.

I have tried custom install but I was not able to choose any partition to install the windows on it. The D partition is 99% empty and I am not able to install windows on it. The NEXT bottom is grayed out.

Please advise if there is another way.

    Please check the below screenshot.

Thank you for your reply and sharing very useful information. Sorry for late response.

I have checked the post by PaulSey. It is really useful If I am able to access windows. The issue is my laptop is stuck  on boot error (File: Boot\BCD)(Error code : 0x000000f)

Is there a way repair or reinstall windows without losing the software and personal data please?

    Best Regards,

    Samer

    Hi Nightearth -

Thank you for your response. I see, since your computer is stuck on boot error, the only way to repair/reinstall windows would be Custom Install, you can recover your personal data on Windows.old folder after the setup, however, your personal application will be erased.

    Regards,

    Jerico T.
