high memory usage windows 10

Hello there, recently i've "upgraded" to windows 10 from windows 7, sadly i only have 4 gb of ram, but that wasn't the problem on windows 7, i would have google, discord and a game open and it would take only about 20-30% of memory, but after i upgraded to windows 10 my memory would constantly be super high, at the beggining i let the pc download all the updates and it helped, the memory usage fell from 80% to 44-50% which is still a big amount, currently when im not running google and no other apps i have around 44% of memory usage, this made me a really big problem, on windows 7 i would have around 120 fps in a game, but on windows 10 i would hardly get more than 40-50 fps. One thing i noticed is that when i check the task manager, the memory comes up to like 800mb, i don't understand where the rest goes? Also i don't think i got any viruses, because i completely wiped my pc and the only programs i've ever downloaded were discord and league of legends, so i don't believe i've caught any virus.

    1. Could you take a screenshot of the following pages in task manager: Processes (Sort Memory by the highest amount first (Arrow need to be pointing down) by pressing on the box named "memory") and Performance.
    2. Basic system requirements for windows 10 mentions 2 GB ram for 64bit, Windows 10 system requirements (microsoft.com) Today i would suggest a minimum of 8GB at minimum use and 16 GB would be a sweet spot, i'm using 16 GB.

I have tried running Windows 10 32Bit on a computer with 2 GB of ram, the requirements for 32 bit is 1 GB. First of all, not a great experience, slow and could not run stable.

But try sharing the information above, it may be that something is really using a lot of ram.

My name is Carlo, I'm an Independent Advisor and community member like you.

I am also using Windows 10 pc. Let us work together to sort this out.

Can you please take a screenshot of your Task Manager for me to check what are the apps and processes running in the background, so that I can provide an accurate recommendation.

-Click Start, type Task Manager and open it.

    -Click Processes Tab

Take a screenshot and post it here.

I'll look forward for your response .

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

    Greetings Ognjen,

I appreciate your time getting back to this thread, it appears that the Antimalware service take most of your memory, please proceed with the steps below.

You can visit this link and perform these steps.

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

Once you are done with those steps restart your computer using cleanboot.

    1. Open the run box by pressing the Windows Key + R and type msconfig
    2. System Configuration Utility box will open and by default you are on general tab.
    3. On the General tab, click the selective startup and make sure that load system service and load startup items both have checked mark.
    4. Click on services tab
    5. Put a check mark on Hide All Microsoft Services
    6. Once Hide all Microsoft Services have checked mark on it, click on Disable All
    7. Click on the Startup Tab and click open task manager. This will open another window which contains all your startup applications on the administrator account.
    8. Disable all application that you're not using. You can simply just click on them and select disable.
    9. Click OK, Apply and close the configuration utility
    10. Restart your pc and check the memory usage in the task manager.

I hope the information above helps. Please let me know how it goes.

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

    Sincerely,

    Carlo T.
