    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you are facing issues with driver updates and I appreciate your efforts in troubleshooting the issue and providing us the detailed information about it.

In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below:

    • Do you want to disable driver updates in Windows 10?
    • What is the issue you are facing after installing Intel drivers?
    • Which Intel drivers are you installing?
    • What happens when you try to uninstall update?

Meanwhile, I would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below and check if the issue persists:

Method 1: Disable using Control Panel

    1. Search and open Control Panel in Windows search box
    2. Navigate to System and Security > System
    3. Click on System info under Related settings, then click Advanced system settings in the left panel.
    4. Under Device installation settings box, select No (your device might not work as expected) option, then click on Save Changes
    5. Restart you PC for changes to apply effect

Method 2: Disable under Group Policy

Follow this method if you are using Windows 10 Pro or above versions as Group Policy is not available in Windows 10 Home

    1. Press Windows key + R key to open Run command box
    2. Type gpedit.msc in the box and click on OK
    3. Expand folders from left column: Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update
    4. On the right side, find Do not include drivers with Windows Updates
    5. Double click on it and select Enabled, and click on Apply and then OK

You can set a policy to block all Windows Update driver updates. To do this, press Windows key+X and select Windows Powershell (Admin)

Copy/paste the following command and press Enter:

    reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate" /f /v ExcludeWUDriversInQualityUpdate /t REG_DWORD /d 1

Restart the computer for the change to take effect.

To undo it, repeat the above with the command:

    reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate" /f /v ExcludeWUDriversInQualityUpdate /t REG_DWORD /d 0

I'm unsure what has happened on your computer, but if you've applied that registry setting, you should no longer receive any further optional driver updates offered through Windows Update.
