Cleanup the SCOM Server disk as it full .

Hello, I have SCOM 2019 small environment where a single server have all the feature installed and there is only one drive c: where all data and installation reside ,now disk is full. can I use shrink the Operation Manager DW File to release the unused space to free up the space. is there effect of it on working functionality of SCOM Server doing this steps.

    Hi @Richkm ,

    The best practice states that you should always install an application on a separate disk/partition and leave the C-drive for the operating system, and especially if you're using a SQL database, you should preferably have that also on a separate disk/partition.

    Before consider any shrinking, I suggest you have a look at Kevin's SCOM database maintenance article over here:

    @Richkm , For our environment, I notice there's only one c drive in our environment. And now the disk is full. And we want to shrink the Operations Manager DW.

    Based as I know, if only the Operations Manager DW is not working, most of the SCOM function can still work.

    To shrink OperationsmanagerDW database file size, we can follow the steps in the link below:

    Note: Please ensure backup is done.

    For our situation, we recommend to add another disk and move the SCOM databases to the new disk. This can avoid OS down when the disk out of space because of the SCOM database growing fast. To change the SCOM database to a new drive, here is a link for the reference:

    I think that the Shrink unused space on operations manager DW does not affect SCOM but it is not the recommend solution in solving your issue.

    1) If possible, relocate your operations manager database or data warehouse into another server or addition hard disk drive

    2) use Operations Manager 2012 Sizing Helper Tool (https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/system-center-blog/operations-manager-2012-sizing-helper-tool/ba-p/345075) to plan your hard disk space for operations manager database and data warehouse.
