WorkloadsSessionHost High CPU & RAM Usage

Hi,
on my ASUS TUF Gaming A16 (Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, 32GB RAM, RTX 4070), the process WorkloadsSessionHost keeps starting on its own. It uses a lot of CPU (10%+) and RAM (2.7 GB+), even after I manually end it. It comes back after a few minutes or restart.

What I’ve tried:

  • Clean Windows reinstall
  • Manual process termination
  • System fully updated and clean

Still no luck. Does anyone know what this process is and how to disable it permanently?

Thanks!

Hi, I am Jeronimo, Thanks for reaching out! I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you.

Sorry to hear that you have troubles with this, WorkloadsSessionHost.exe belongs to the new Windows Workload Manager package, Updating to the June 2025 cumulative patch or simply disabling the Windows AI Fabric Service (WSAIFabricSvc) stops the runaway processes without breaking the rest of Windows.

I ended up resolving it by completely disabling the NPU in Device Manager. Will this have any impact on performance when it comes to gaming or everyday use like watching YouTube or movies, google etc ..? I don't use any ai functions, only ChatGPT :D

I downloaded the update and it still keeps turning on, I really don't understand why an AI Function would take so much memory when I don't even use one.

As I mentioned above, when I stop the WSAIFabricSvc service, my system starts to lag noticeably. In Task Manager, I constantly see Windows Error Reporting processes appearing and disappearing. I don’t understand why something like this would be using up to 1- 2,7 GB of memory, especially since I’ve never actively used or enabled anything related to it.

Thanks for your reply. My system is fully up to date, and the only update currently showing is the one in the screenshot – it hasn’t downloaded yet.

I’ve also tried disabling the WSAIFabricSvc service, but when I do that, the system starts acting weird – for example, I often see a "Windows Report Bug" process in Task Manager, and overall the system becomes slower and less stable.
