You can always upgrade from Teams Free to the full-featured Teams for Business. In other words, if you want to change your Teams account from personal to business, you need to switch from the free version to the paid version. You could Click on your profile picture and select the Upgrade button. Then select one of the three options available: Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Microsoft 365 Business Standard, or Office 365 E3.

Thanks Jimmy,
That makes sense, but my only confusion is, I thought there was a way to have a 'free version' for small business where we just want to use Microsoft Teams. If I had not signed up for a personal account a couple years ago, it looks like I could sign up for a free small business account. Did I lose this option because I already have a personal account? Am I only left with the upgrade, $5 user/month.
Thanks, Jim

If you already have the small business for Microsoft Teams, you could add your personal account as guest in Teams client. For more details about how to add guest:

No I don't have small business for Teams, I would like to upgrade my personal account to the free small business for Teams version. Is that possible?
@Jim O'Donnell
I am afraid you can't.
You can upgrade to the full version of Teams if you meet the following requirements:
1)You are the person who signed up for the existing Teams free subscription.
2)If you are bringing your own domain, it isn't already associated with Azure Active Directory (via trial or purchased Microsoft 365 or Office 365 subscription).
