The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00020001 (0x0000000000000028, 0x0000000000000001, 0x0000000029b92701, 0x00000000fd200000). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\050725-16296-01.dmp. Report Id: d9a02de4-a6cf-492e-b896-f82d75ac196b.

Here is the minidump file :

Basically when i closed the lid of my laptop and let it sleep, when i came back i found out that the laptop was overheating with the screen off and the computer was unresponsive. After rebooting and checking event viewer i found this error. Please fix it, I've been facing this issue for a while now.

Thanks

Johann

    Hi Johann Mathew

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand the frustration you must be feeling, Johann. To address the overheating issue when your laptop is in sleep mode, here are some steps you can try:

    Disable Modern Standby (If Applicable)

Open Command Prompt as Administrator and type:

    powercfg /a

If Modern Standby is enabled, you may need to disable it via BIOS settings.

    Change Sleep Mode to Hibernate

Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what closing the lid does.

Set When I close the lid to Hibernate instead of Sleep.

    Check Background Processes

Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and check if any processes are running while the laptop is in sleep mode.

Disable unnecessary startup programs under Startup tab.

    Update Drivers & BIOS

Go to Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager).

Expand System devices and update Intel Management Engine Interface.

Check your laptop manufacturer’s website for BIOS updates.

    Check for Windows Updates

Go to Settings > Windows Update and install any pending updates.

Perform Repair in-place upgrade: This will reinstall your Operating System and will keep your files and apps. This will take some time depending on the computer performance and internet speed. You can follow the steps from this link: How to perform repair upgrade in Windows 11 - Microsoft Community

Please let me know if this helps.

    Heyy thanks for the reply

So as you said i have changed what closing the lid does to Hibernate, hoping that it fixed the problem

also when i checked the command prompt with that command this is what i got :

The following sleep states are available on this system:

Standby (S0 Low Power Idle) Network Disconnected

    Hibernate

The following sleep states are not available on this system:

    Standby (S1)

The system firmware does not support this standby state.

This standby state is disabled when S0 low power idle is supported.

    Standby (S2)

The system firmware does not support this standby state.

This standby state is disabled when S0 low power idle is supported.

    Standby (S3)

The system firmware does not support this standby state.

This standby state is disabled when S0 low power idle is supported.

    Hybrid Sleep

        Standby (S3) is not available.

The hypervisor does not support this standby state.

    Fast Startup

This action is disabled in the current system policy.

Standby (S0 Low Power Idle) Network Connected

Connectivity in standby is not supported.

    C:\Windows\System32>

Any idea if this is how it's supposed to be to disable modern standby ? I don't see anything called modern standby here that's why.

    Hi Johann Mathew

Thank you for trying the steps above.

Your output indicates that Modern Standby is active as per your hardware’s design, and by setting the lid action to hibernate, you're effectively avoiding it. This setup is expected behavior on devices built for Modern Standby, so there’s no cause for concern unless you specifically require S3 sleep for your workflow.

Please try to perform the Repair in-place upgrade and let me know what happens next.

    Best Regard,

    Hey,

    Sorry for the late reply

I have been testing to see if this issue happens again and i guess changing the lid closing setting to Hibernate seems to have fixed the problem, I am also somehow able to get better battery life too. If i do face a problem someday, i will let you know.

    Thanks for the help

    Johann
