Malware preventing the offline defender scan

My stupidity is giving me a headache. I was trying to download a cracked game and instead downloaded a virus or malware whatever (I don't know the difference)

The malicious program is called Trojan:Win32/Malgent!MSR(this was caught by the quick scan)**.**So, what happened is that when I extracted the folder and ran the .exe file, a small window popped up and closed quickly, and the .exe disappeared from the folder. Note: there were 2 .exe files, and I stupidly clicked both. Before I realized the threat, the damage was already done. Some of my accounts were hacked, and although I managed to recover them, that's a story for later.

Now I am trying to remove this threat. The problem is, Microsoft Defender offline scan isn’t working!I suspect that the malware is causing this. Please help me. How can I remove this threat from my PC?

[Why is the insert image not working? I can't upload the screenshot]

Note: I am on Windows 10

If Microsoft Defender Antivirus and Defender Offline cannot find any threats or finds but cannot remove threats, there are various secondary opinion scanners which can be used to supplement your existing antivirus.

I provide a more detailed list of malware removal tools with scanning instructions in Supplementing your Anti-Virus Program with Anti-Malware Tools (Post #4)...just scroll down near the bottom of that post.

    Thanks for responding.

I think I didn't properly explain my situation with the offline defender.

My issue with offline defender is that when I click "scan now" It is supposed to reboot or restart my computer (I watched it in youtube to double check) but nothing happens. It is as if that button is just a decoy.

Hey, sorry you're going through this. Since Defender offline scan isn’t working, I’d suggest booting into Safe Mode and running a full scan with Malwarebytes (free version is fine). Also try using Microsoft’s “Malicious Software Removal Tool” (you can download it separately). If nothing works, consider backing up important files and doing a full Windows reinstall to be safe. Good luck!

Disregard trying to scan with Defender Offline for now and just try performing scans with some of the other security scanners I noted.

You should also ignore all Internet web searches which provide numerous links to bogus and untrustworthy malware removal guides, including Facebook and YouTube videos. Do not let yourself be victimized twice.
