Microsoft Copilot does not open

When I click on Microsoft Copilot it does not open. I see the following in the Application Event log.

Description: A .NET application failed.

Application: Copilot.exe

Path: C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.Copilot_1.25061.104.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\Copilot.exe

Message: Error:

An assembly specified in the application dependencies manifest (Copilot.deps.json) was not found:

    package: 'VoiceClarity-release-library-24h2', version: '2.0.25140.53'

    path: 'runtimes/win-x64/native/VoiceClarity.pdb'

Copilot did work at one point on my machine but it stopped working about a month ago. I don't know if this is a problem with Copilot or a broken Windows update causing this, or something else. SFC comes back clean.

I'm on Windows 11 24H2 Build 26100.4351. I am current on all Windows updates.

BTW - I am referring to Microsoft Copilot, not Copilot 365.

    Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community.

I see that Copilot is not opening on your device, and I’m happy to guide you through some steps that might help resolve this issue:

    1. Check for Windows Updates: Since you're on the latest build, double-check that all updates have been installed correctly. Go to Settings > Windows Update and ensure your system is fully up to date.
    2. Run Copilot Troubleshooters: Windows has built-in troubleshooters that can help diagnose and fix issues with apps. You can try running the Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter by going to Settings > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters and selecting Windows Store Apps. You can refer to this article: Copilot Troubleshooter
    3. Repair or Reinstall Copilot:
      • Try repairing the app by going to Settings > Apps > Installed apps, finding Copilot, clicking on Advanced options, and selecting Repair.
      • If repairing doesn’t work, you may need to Reset or Uninstall and Reinstall Copilot.

I appreciate your patience and understanding, and I hope you're able to get Copilot running again soon!

    Sincerely,

    Eren | Microsoft Community Moderator.

    Good morning,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, I understand that you need assistance with your Copilot. It looks like your Copilot.exe application is failing due to a missing assembly related to VoiceClarity-release-library-24h2. This could be caused by an incomplete installation, a corrupted file, or a missing dependency.

Here are a few things you can try:

    • Check for Windows Updates: Since VoiceClarity is a feature introduced in Windows 11 24H2, make sure your system is fully updated. Some users have reported issues with missing features after updating.
    • Repair .NET Framework Components: Microsoft provides a troubleshooter that can help repair .NET Framework issues that might be causing this error.
    • Reinstall Copilot: If the issue persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling the Copilot application to ensure all dependencies are correctly installed.

    I hope this helps,

    Best regards

    JK

I have already done all of the steps you have suggested. None of those worked.

Thank you for your response. I have tried all of the options you have mentioned and none of those work. You state that some users have reported issues with missing features after updating. How can I restore this feature if it is missing? Copilot used to work. I think an update broke it.
