You found a way to disable MPO?
How can i disable windows MPO in 2025 ? (24h2 windows 11 version)
windows MPO often freeze my pc while gaming (not on all games but still on many). disabling it via regedit fixed it in the past. but now the freeze came back. i noticed that i cannot disable MPO via regedit anymore.
when the pc freeze all i can do is a hard reboot.
i suspect a driver crash but the issue hasn't been resolved after all those years. (amd 6800xt)
so i need to be able to disable MPO completely like before.

2025-03-12T19:12:13+00:00 Disabling Multiplane Overlay (MPO) has been a common troubleshooting step for display issues like system freezes during gaming. Previously, this was achievable by adding a specific registry entry. However, with the release of Windows 11 version 24H2, this method appears to be ineffective.
A community member mentioned the development of a tool named "MPOOFF" designed to disable MPO at a deeper system level. This tool is expected to be available on the Remotly Community platform.

Some users have found that reverting to older graphics drivers resolves the issues associated with MPO. For example, downgrading to version 24.5.1 has been reported to stop display problems, although this may result in losing newer features like AMD Fluid Frames 2
