Hi Kirito, can you reach out to Microsoft, and request for this problem to be fixed as soon as possible? We have a legacy application at my workplace that uses mms:// stream protocol to stream audio files (specifically WMA files). We have a many remote users. So far one remote user is affected, on her work Windows 11 24H2 laptop, and good thing she has an old personal Windows 10 laptop to continue her work. As a system admin at my firm, I'm disappointed that this problem is out of my control. I hope that Microsoft releases a Windows update patch soon that will resolve this problem.

    Hello Kirito.H,

I have followed the steps back to 23H2, the issue is resolved and I can play steam normally. Could you please notify me once the issue is fixed in a new update?

Hello Fai Diu, welcome to the Microsoft Community!

Thank you for your feedback and we are pleased to assist you with this issue!

You are experiencing that the MMS (Microsoft Media Server) streaming protocol does not work in Windows Media Player (WMP) Legacy after upgrading Windows 11 from 23H2 to 24H2, you can test this by looking at the following options

You can uninstall the update to see if it is caused by the update.

You can click on the windows key > Settings > Windows Update > Update History > Uninstall Update.

Then see if the function works normally

If it works, then the problem is caused by the update.

So you can pause the update and wait for the issue to be fixed.

In the meantime, you can also click on the windows key + F key to send feedback

to send your feedback and wait for the problem to be solved.

We look forward to hearing from you again!
