Windows 11 Installation process (from USB) shows "Install Driver to Show Hardware" error and can't figure it out

Hello everyone, I have a Thinkpad T15P Gen 3 (Intel i7 12th generation) and I'm trying to install Windows 11 using an USB memory, but I always get the"Install Driver to Show Hardware" error, I've tried the following:

-Extracting the drivers Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver Installation Software with Intel® Optane™ Memory *(from 8th to 13th Gen Platforms) just in case al older version would have worked * using "./SetupRST.exe -extractdrivers SetupRST_extracted*.

-Extracting the driver Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver for for Windows 11 (Version 21H2 or later), 10 (Version 20H2 or later) - ThinkPad P15v Gen 3 (Type 21D8 21D9), P16 Gen 1 (Type 21D6, 21D7), T15p Gen 3 (Type 21DA 21DB) (from the ThinkPad web page).

-Deactivating and activating VMD, an interesting thing happened when I activated the VMD option and ran the Windows 11 installation it showed "Error installing driver"

-Creating the bootable USB drive using the Media Creation Tool and Rufus (on the same USB memory).

When I checked on the EUFI the VMD activation/deactivation I noticed that the IRST version installed is 19.0.0.5428 RST VMD driver, (I don't know if this is useful), I tried installing latest version on the current Windows installation (driver version 20.0.0.1038.3) but it shows an error and the log can't be read becase "I don't have the permission".

Aside from that thing with VMD, it alwasys shows "A media driver your computer needs is missing. This could be a DVD, USB or a Hard Disk Driver..."

Currently I don't know what to do, I'd love to get some help, thank you.

    Hi Brayan,

Please see if you can set the SATA Mode to "AHCI" in the UEFI settings. This mode doesn't require any drivers.

If that option is unavailable, create a Windows 10 USB setup disk and install Windows 10. Once done, you can do an in-place upgrade to Windows 11.

Or, if you have the Windows 11 23H2 USB setup disk, you could try that.

The above method worked for many users.

Good afternoon from México, the option to set to AHCI isn't available in the UEFI settings.

I've tried Windows 11 23H2 and Windows 10 and any of the recognize the drivers :c .

I don't know if it useful, but after getting the PC, I upgraded its RAM and added a new SSD NVME, should I try removing the SSD that I recently added?

    Hi Brayan,

    1. Have you used the Windows 10 setup disk and extracted the IRST drivers to the setup disk? You still need to load the drivers when booting from the Windows 10 setup disk.
    2. If the load driver option (when booted from the Windows 10 setup disk) didn't help, please try the following drivers.

Intel:registered: Rapid Storage Technology Driver Installation Software with Intel:registered: Optane:tm: Memory (11th up to 13th Gen Platforms):

Hello, regarding the 1st part, I pasted them on the USB memory as instructed, but when I the PC loaded the installation asked again for the drivers, then I wanted to search for the folder with the drivers but I couldn't find it, it shows 2 disks: the C is the new SSD and the "Boot (X:)" I couldn't confirm which disk is that, since also I created a folder with drivers on the SSD I want to install Windows, but (as the picture shows) there isn't shown, also I don't recognize those folders from the USB memory with the Windows installation.

Regarding the 2nd part, I've used it previously with any success.

I'm going to borrow another USB memory to see if it works.

    Hi,

Press Shift + F10 to open Command Prompt in WinRE.

    Run:

    diskpart
    list disk
    list vol

Does it show the USB drive?
