Mine has stopped working consistently now too. It was after a windows update June 1st. The voice typing Launcher used to pop up any time i was in a box i could type in. Now i have to constantly hit Windows + H to bring it up again. I have checked permissions and they are all correct. Toggling did not work. I even deleted and reinstalled audio drivers.
windows voice typing doesn't stay on
The launcher toggles don't stay on. Keep having to toggle it on. To start the app is it Window+H? To press the microphone and to have to start listening is it also Win +H? Getting very conflicting info and no doubt will get it here again. It's very chunky to use unlike on IOS or Android a simple button that stays on and just have to click on it to start.

Hmm, I see, try now toggling the Voice Typing Launcher off and disabling Online Speech Recognition, then restart your computer.
After restarting, enable Online Speech Recognition again and turn the Voice Typing Launcher back on to see if it stays active. This reset can help fix small glitches in the voice services that sometimes prevent the toggle from remaining on.

2025-06-19T09:10:41+00:00 Hi - actually there is an option to have Voice to text always on. it's an app called Voice Access.
once enabled there's a toolbar always on and unless you mute it for when you are on a phone call for example it's always listening and we'll type it in any time you're in a text box
Hope it's helpful As I had the same complaint about the win+H option having to manually click the mic After every sentence almost

It is indeed Win+H to open and close Voice Typing in Windows.
To keep the launcher toggled on, open Settings > Time & Language > Typing, and make sure the “Voice typing launcher” switch is turned on.
Also confirm that Online Speech Recognition is enabled under Settings > Privacy & Security > Speech.
Once those are both on, pressing Win+H is how you begin or stop the microphone. Windows currently does not offer a permanent on-screen voice button like on mobile, so each session does require you to re-engage it with Win+H or by tapping the microphone.
