Updating a number of Windows 10 20H2 machines. Some fail. Those that fail have Edge uninstalled.
This hasnt happened in the past. It is happening now. It would be nice to apply security updates that work.

    @Stan Kasper
    Hi,
New Microsoft Edge to replace Microsoft Edge Legacy with April’s Windows 10 Update Tuesday release
    https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-365-blog/new-microsoft-edge-to-replace-microsoft-edge-legacy-with-april-s/ba-p/2114224

This is an Known issues in this update:
Devices with Windows installations created from custom offline media or custom ISO image might have Microsoft Edge Legacy removed by this update, but not automatically replaced by the new Microsoft Edge. This issue is only encountered when custom offline media or ISO images are created by slipstreaming this update into the image without having first installed the standalone servicing stack update (SSU) released March 29, 2021 or later.

If you have already encountered this issue by installing the OS using affected custom media, you can mitigate it by directly installing the new Microsoft Edge.

You could refer to the following official article as your reference:

Hope above information can help you.

Right-click Command Prompt result and select Run as administrator and press Enter after:
    sfc /scannow

Run the following commands, pressing Enter after each:

    dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
    dism /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth
    dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Close Command Prompt and reboot the system.

Click Win key + X and select Command Prompt (Admin).

Press Enter after each of them:

    net stop wuauserv
    net stop cryptSvc
    net stop bits
    net stop msiserver
    ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
    ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 Catroot2.old

The last two commands are used for renaming SoftwareDistribution and Catroot2 folders. When all commands are executed, enable BITS, Cryptographic, MSI Installer and the Windows Update Services by typing these commands in the Command Prompt. Press Enter after each:

    net start wuauserv
    net start cryptSvc
    net start bits
    net start msiserver

Finally, close Command Prompt window and reboot

This is what just worked for me.

My Edge browser was uninstalled so I downloaded the setup here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge
After installing, I opened command prompt with Admin Privileges (easiest by right clicking start menu)
Then I ran the following prompts:

    sfc/scannow

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Reboot after completion, then install the update and reboot again before you can uninstall Edge again and be DONE. (Hooray!)

    Hope that helps! :)
