Invisible Outlook 365 messages

Messages in outlook are invisible. In print preview, messages display correctly, but not in normal view (opening a message by double-clicking on it). This affects both HTML and plain text messages. I cannot even see my signature in the message body when i start to write a new message. I've tried disabling all add-ons and running scanpst.exe. This started with no updates / changes, without even a restart.

I tried all recommended steps in this post: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/ae034a67-001f-4a4c-9f8d-6ca4c7d617d6/troubleshooting-blank-email-body-in-outlook but nothing helps. I need this issue to be resolved as i use this for work.

Up to 10 attachments (including images) can be used with a maximum of 3.0 MiB each and 30.0 MiB total.

I have the same problem since this afternoon (5/11). I have three email address all going through Outlook and all do the same. I cannot see what I write but I know it is there as recipients confirmed they can see it. Extremely annoying as I now cannot control my writing and I use all three addresses for work. I did a virus scan and all appears well.

Checkout this link from Reddit...

The short answer is to open CMD as Administrator and run this:

"C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun\OfficeC2RClient.exe" /update user updatetoversion=16.0.13901.20462

That will kick off an Office update that will require you to close Outlook if it's open so it can be updated. It should reopen once completed and the messages will appear again.

I've already run this on a couple of clients today and it fixed them.

Worked for me. Wasted 30 minutes trying a bunch of other things before finding this. Thanks.

Yep, me too. Tried all that you described.

It appears that the text is there. If you reply and start to backspace, you can see one line at a time but you can not select any more data than that line and it is the only line you can see.

Looks like they're working on it.
We’re investigating an issue with email message visibility in Outlook. Outlook on the web appears to be unaffected. More details can be found under EX255650 in the admin center.

Hi all,

As I know, Microsoft engineer team has recognized this issue and is working hard to fix it. If you are a Microsoft 365 admin, it's recommended to follow the relevant information in message center of admin portal to get the latest update.

I will continue to monitor them, and if there are any updates, I would post back.

I have the same problem, I would reply to an e-mail or start a new one and when I typed then hit enter to drop down the letters would disappear😕 wait what?!, LOL.

At 11:00 pm EST 11MAY2021, I did the windows update for WIN 10 Pro and was ask to restart, I went back to Office 365 and opened e-mail. It works fine now.

Good work Office 365 engineers😎👍

Sincerely,
Det. Andrew Gray

This is what resolved this issue for me. Go to File > Options > Mail, click Stationery and Fonts button to open the Signatures and Stationery dialog box, click the Font button under each of the email types listed (especially under plain text messages), see the "Composing and reading plain text messages" heading, make sure the font color is set to either "Automatic" or any color that you can easily see, such as black. Close, then try reading your trouble maker emails again.

I don't know why an option that's supposed to be about writing emails affects the appearance of emails others send to me but that's what happens.
