It's not windows. Teams, Zoom, Duo, Meet -- all work perfectly. It's WhatsApp.
WhatsApp voices garbled on two Windows machines but not on my phone
I have WhatsApp desktop installed on two Windows 10 machines and the WhatsApp app installed on my Android phone.
Starting a few weeks ago I noticed that on my WhatsApp calls on both my Windows machines my party's voice has been garbled for me, and they sometimes hear an echo of their voice, while they hear me clearly.
One Windows machine is connected by Ethernet to my router, while the other Windows machine connects with the router via WiFi.
When I call my party with WhatsApp on my Android their voice is not garbled and they hear me clearly with no echo of their voice whether the phone is connected via WiFi to my router or directly to 4G.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled WhatsApp on both Windows machines with no improvement. I have powered down and powered up both Windows machines. And I have run diagnostics on my router and powered it down and back up, all with no improvement,
Given the problem only occurs on my Windows 10 machines now when several weeks ago I didn't have this problem, and the fact nothing has changed in my use of WhatsApp on any of my devices, my only conclusion is a Windows update is causing this problem, especially since I keep both Windows machines up to date.
If this is the case, which update is causing the problem? And what can I do to fix the problem?
Anyone have a suggestion or had a similar problem?
Thanks!

2025-01-29T19:59:13+00:00 I uninstalled the old version and installed the 2.2503.5.0 version from the Microsoft store with no change: my party hears the same echo and on my end their voice is just as garbled as before. I've only tested this latest version on one machine, but both have all the latest Windows 10 updates.
Any other suggestions for solving this problem? For now my only workaround is to use my phone,, on which WhatsApp works fine.
Thanks in advance for any new ideas!

2025-01-29T09:28:23+00:00 The WhatsApp you can download from the Microsoft Store is already version 2.2503.5.0, which is way newer than the version you have. You definitely need to try this version.

2025-01-28T17:34:11+00:00 Thank you for your input. Hadn't thought of that.
I downloaded both WhatsApp apps from the WhatsApp website version 2.2502.3.0 on my desktop (downloaded and installed a few days ago) and 2.2502.2.0 on my laptop (presumably downloaded and installed a few months ago). Does that help?
Do you suggest I try uninstalling WhatsApp on both devices and replacing it with the version downloaded from here https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9nksqgp7f2nh?hl=en-us&gl=US?
Many thanks!

2025-01-28T10:40:39+00:00 Hello, Michael Saklad Welcome to Microsoft Community. It is not necessarily the Windows update causing the issue; it could also simply be that WhatsApp updated itself. Where did you download your WhatsApp from? Did you get it from the WhatsApp website, or did you install it directly from the Microsoft Store? Also, what’s the exact version number you’re using? We need to rule out the version factor first before we can figure out if the Windows update is the culprit.Yuhao LMicrosoft Community Technical Support
