After Windows 11 24h2 Update system is abnormally heating than usual and consuming more CPU usage

After Updated my Asus Tuf f15 to Windows 11 24h2, system holding CPU temperature at 59 to 65 or 70 degrees Celsius. And checking at task manager, every time the "system" process consumes 10 or 12 percent

How can I fix and its irritating after some time when the keyboard area gets heated after some time.

It's not a coincidence, my laptop Lenovo Legion 5 pro 2021 i7 11800H experiencing the same.

That system "ntoskernel.exe" is causing high load of my CPU thus makes my laptop temp skyrocketing.

After i rolled back (clean install) using 23H3, all the problem was gone.

Not to mention all portable programs are also runing properly now without error "virtual machine" or some sort while using 24H2.

Sorry to say but win 11 24H2 update is rubbish.

I had similar case, after updating my Razer Blade 17 2022 to Windows 11 24H2, and latest patch. The system is running a little, or even a lot hotter. I did game testing temps, and I found something shocking.

Apparently, it has to do with the CPU turbo-boosting system. Windows 11 24H2 basically or accidentally push the CPU a little too much which increasing the temperatures. I test a few games, and I randomly run the system a lot hotter than usual, and sometimes when watching videos the system pumped up 4.5-4.8GHz which is a lot higher than usual.

Both GPU and CPU temperature reached 80+, before it would be 75*C but when running load the GPU getting close to the warmer 85*C and the CPU, it gone up to 90*C or sometimes even higher. Now I tried everything, including taking the Razer Blade out to re-paste the CPU and GPU, and still receiving high temps. So I did is basically go into the device's BIOS and switching CPU turbo-boost off, which decrease the temps by 10-20*C.

I also run gaming test without turbo-boost, and temperature is much lower sometimes running 72-75*C at load, for the CPU and GPU up to 65*C also under load. Currently still unsure what the update done to the Turbo-boost system of my laptop and why it cause a violent spike.

Here is my Razer Blade 17 specs.
CPU: intel i7-12800H
GPU: Nvidia RTX 3070ti (8GB - Laptop GPU)

• Both latest GPU Driver, and Windows Update installed.

Currently running the system without turbo-boost and the temperatures is running smoothly, without any weird spikes.

My Dell G5 5090 has had the same problem since the 24H2 update. The System Kernel process uses >25% CPU at idle. I've downgraded video drivers, upgraded drivers, uninstalled apps, ran DISM, SFC... and anything else I can think of, but the only solution is to revert back to the 23H2 version. :(

No CPU issues when running in safe mode, but I can't find the driver, app or service that may the root cause of the issue.

My CPU was thermal throttling and here's what helped me on my Asus Tuf laptop.

Open Power plan settings and see if you have Ultimate Performance. If you don't, I will show how to add it.

Run terminal as an administrator and run this "powercfg -duplicatescheme e9a42b02-d5df-448d-aa00-03f14749eb61". Then open Power plan settings, there should be "Ultimate Performance". If it's available now, follow next steps:

1. Click on "Change plan settings" > "Change advanced power settings".
2. Under "Processor power managment" put 98% into "Minimum processor state" > "Plugged in"
3. Put 99% into "Maximum processor state" > "Plugged in".

After this your fps will drop a bit, but CPU should become stable.
