I am having this exact same problem. It was working a few days ago and now shows that I have "no devices found" for audio output and input.

Method 1 did nothing because it says I have no devices.

Method 2 didn't work because "Sound, video and game controllers" isn't even LISTED

Method 3 I can not understand. However, when I went into Computer Management>System Tools>Device Manager it shows a Yellow Warning box next to Intel High Definition DSP. When I click on that it says "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) There are no compatible drivers for this device. To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver." When I try to click on Update Driver, though, it says there are no Drivers available. ALSO, when I go to "Events" under "Intel High Definition DSP Properties" it says "9/10/2024 Device Configured (Null)" so I think this is when the problem occurred. For information, it says:

    Device INTELAUDIO\DSP_CTLR_DEV_A0C8&VEN_8086&DEV_0222&SUBSYS_87CB103C&REV_0020\4&11d6349d&0&0800 was configured.

    Driver Name: null

    Class Guid: {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}

    Hello, Vicki Routh

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community

Thanks for your feedback. I have read the information you provided. You mentioned that you cannot find the speaker in the output and output devices.

I understand that this problem has caused you trouble. Don't worry, you can also try the following troubleshooting methods, which may help you.

Method 1. Windows provides a built-in audio troubleshooter that can automatically detect and fix problems.

    Run the troubleshooter:

Open "Settings" (press Windows + I).

Select "System" > "Troubleshoot" > "Additional troubleshooting".

Under "Playing audio", click the "Run" button and follow the prompts to complete the troubleshooting process.

Method 2. Update or reinstall the audio driver

Press Windows + X and select "Device Manager".

Expand "Sound, video and game controllers" and find the audio device (such as Realtek, Conexant, etc.).

Right-click the audio device and select "Uninstall device". When uninstalling, check "Delete the driver software for this device".

After the uninstall is complete, restart your computer and Windows should automatically reinstall the default driver.

Right-click the audio device, select "Update Driver", and then select "Search automatically for updated driver software".

If Windows does not find a suitable driver, you can also visit the website of the laptop manufacturer or the audio device manufacturer to download and install the latest driver.

Method 3. Check the audio service

Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog box, type services.msc and press Enter.

Find the following services in the Services window:

    Windows Audio

    Windows Audio Endpoint Builder

Make sure their status is "Running" and the startup type is "Automatic". If not running, right-click and select "Start".

Method 4. Run SFC and DISM commands to repair system files

System File Checker (SFC) and Deployment Image Servicing and Management Tool (DISM) are two built-in tools provided by Windows for scanning and repairing system files.

Press Win + X or right-click the "Start" button and select "Command Prompt (Admin)" or "Windows PowerShell (Admin)".

Enter and run the SFC command:

    sfc /scannow

This command will scan all protected system files and replace corrupted files. This process may take some time, please be patient.

DISM can repair problems in Windows image files and is the next step when SFC cannot repair files.

Continue to use the command prompt with administrator privileges.

Enter and run the following commands:

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

These commands will check and repair problems in Windows image files. /RestoreHealth You may need to connect to the Internet to download and replace corrupted files.

If you have tried these methods and the problem persists, there may be a hardware problem with your speakers. I suggest that you contact the technical support staff of the device manufacturer, who will provide you with more professional tools and methods to help you solve potential hardware problems and provide you with more useful information.

    Best regards

I figured out Method 3 (both were Running and Automatic), and also Method 4. Still no audio or microphone.

Thanks for the responses! I still don't have a solution, Method 1, doesn't work because there is no audio output device found. Method 2, same thing, cannot update a driver for what is not there. Onto 3 and 4, will update outcome.
