Windows 11 OEM licence deactivated after 24h2 update

Hello,

A few days ago I installed the new 24h2 update on my laptop and after rebooting the system, my Windows 11 Home license no longer worked. Every time I went to the Configuration place where the licenses are activated, it would show an error 0xC004F213. Every time I would click on "Solve problems" it would not provide me with any solution.

After 1 day, I tried to enter my license as a new license, by clicking on "Change product key" and pasted my current license. Again, this would not solve the problem and throw me an error. This time the code was 0x803fa067.

Now, I constantly have that error saying that my license is not valid. https://answers-afd.microsoft.com/static/images/image-not-found.jpgI have checked and downgrading to the previous version 23h also seems impossible.

Is there any fix for this or am I going to lose my valid and paid license due to an update bug?

I'm having similar issues. I support an organization with over 200 workstations and I'm seeing a similar issue with upgrades as well as fresh installs. In previous versions of Windows 11 installations, it would look for a digital license and automatically activate once loaded into the operating system. After regretfully downloading a fresh copy of Windows 11 24H2 to distribute in my organization, I'm getting several machines suddenly prompting for a product key, which was never the case with previous versions. This is expected if I was building a PC from scratch. A prompt for a product key then would be expected, and certainly nothing new. But this is NEW with 24H2 in that something has changed so that it either no longer checks for a digital license or only accepts brand new OEM 11 keys. I hope they fix this ASAP because this was not an issue with previous versions of 11.

    Hello,

Thanks for the reply. Unluckily, the solutions provided were not helpful in my case.

I executed as admin the "slmgr /rilc" command. The output was ok, the prompt said every file was successfully installed. I went to configuration and tried to with the Troubleshoot option. After a bunch of times doing it, the message is still the same: "We could not activate Windows on this device". In the configuration window I still have the error message with the code 0x803fa067 at the end.

I tried to reboot the laptop, and for a moment I had hope, since the "Active Windows" gray message that usually appears on your desktop dissapeared. However, when I entered the Configuration app, I still had the message demanding me to Activate Window. I tried again several times the troubleshooting option, but still the same output.

I also went and click on "Change the product key". I put my OEM key, but in the end still tells me that it is not a valid key.

When I ordered my laptop, I did it with installation included, and they did not sent me the original package of the OEM key. I know my OEM key because I looked for it using the Windows Registry, navigating to Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SoftwareProtectionPlatform and checking the BackupProductKeyDefault entry.

Do you know any other thing that I can try??

    Regards,
    Valkyre

    Dear valkyre,

Hello! Welcome to the Microsoft Community. I'm glad to be able to assist you. If I misunderstand your question, please let me know promptly.

I understand that you were suddenly told that Windows is no longer activated after logging in one time, and you clicked "Change Product Key" and pasted your current license, but it failed. I understand the trouble this problem has caused you, and I will try my best to help you solve it.

This problem seems to happen frequently recently, and many users have reported the same problem as you, and all of them used OEM keys.

I think this problem may be related to the latest 24H2 update. It is not clear why this happens. Let's try the conventional solutions. If they don't work, we may need to wait for official updates.

Try the following methods to see if it helps you:

-Search for "cmd", open the "Command Prompt" as an administrator, enter the following and press Enter:

    slmgr /rilc

Open the activation page in the Settings app and select the Troubleshoot option. You may need to run it a few times to see what it says?

    • Try to find your original OEM key and re-enter it to activate Windows. You can ask your manufacturer, the OEM key should be imprinted on the device hardware.

About the error code during activation:

0xC004F213: Windows reported that the product key was not found on your device.

0x803fa067: The activation server cannot process the request
