1, I've tried clearing cache and data. 2, I've tried resetting the router. 3, I've tried installing and reinstalling the Google browser. 4, I've tried to run the dialogue box by typing CMD then when that opens i typed ipconfig/flush to flush the DNS and it said it successfully flushed the DNS resolver cache, but it didn't fix the problem. 5, I've tried the network connections then select WiFi then select property then I've selected internet protocol version for TCP ipv4 then i selected property and then i put 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 into the spaces where it says preferred DNS server then i selected okay then i selected internet protocol version 6 (TCP/IPv6 and selected properties then i typed in ****************** and ****************** into the spaces where it says preferred DNS server then i restarted the pc, it did play but it only work once then when i clicked onto another video i got the error occurred message again. 6,The last thing i tried was a SFC/ scan and I've restarted my computer but that's not worked either. After the computer had an update it wouldn't let me play YouTube videos and i kept on getting the error occured message. I've done everything that Google has offered but nothing seems to be working and it would be really appreciated if someone could help me. I also like to add that i can play YouTube videos on my android phone and I'm signed into the same account that I'm signed into the computer.

    Hello, Karen Gunn

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Can you play YouTube videos in Edge or any other browser? Have you installed any extensions on Chrome? Do you have any non-Microsoft antivirus software, firewalls, or VPNs on your computer that could affect your internet connection? How about trying to switch to a different WiFi network, use a wired connection, or connect through a mobile hotspot?

Hi there, and thank u so much for replying. I'm not sure how to play YouTube videos in edge or any other browser i only use google chrome, but they play on my android smart phone. I've even signed into my son's google account on the exact same computer and youtube videos are playing without any problems. Although i do have a few extensions from chrome two of the are adblocker's and the other one is grammarly keyboard. I've had all three extensions for over a year now and I've not added any new ones recently. I've even uninstalled the extension and added them again, but that didn't work. Also i do have firewall and network protection, microsoft antivirus software, but I've disabled this and it's still not working. I'm not sure how to use VPNs so i don't want to mess about with it. I have tried to hotspot it, but the computers saying can't connect to this network so I'm not sure what's going wrong. Kind regards

    Hello, Karen Gunn

I'm not sure how to play YouTube videos in edge or any other browser i only use google chrome,

You can follow the same steps as you do in Chrome. Simply open the browser, go to the YouTube website, and play the video. The process is the same across different browsers since they all function similarly. Edge is the default browser that comes with Windows, and you can find it directly in the Start menu.

I've even uninstalled the extension and added them again, but that didn't work.

It’s important to disable the extensions and not re-enable them, otherwise, it’s like undoing all your efforts. Ad-blocker extensions can sometimes cause issues with playing YouTube videos. Your phone likely doesn’t have these extensions installed, and your son’s account probably doesn’t either, which is why they don’t have this problem.

Did u mean Microsoft edge cuz found it at the start menu like u said and the youtube videos are playing perfectly? Also I've had these extensions for year's and i used them on my son's google account as well so i don't think that's got anything to do with it. I'm really confused as to why youtube videos won't play on my google account when I'm using chrome, nor will they play when using the YouTube app that's on my computer. I've done everything that google has offered and the only thing that did work was the numbers 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 that i put in the inpreferred DNS server, but it only played one video and now i still get the error message. Thank so much for taking the time to reply back to me i really appreciate it: Kind regards, Karen

    Hello, Karen Gunn

Yes, I meant Microsoft Edge. I’m glad to hear that YouTube videos are playing perfectly there. Even though you’ve had the extensions for years, they can sometimes cause issues. Try disabling all extensions and see if the problem persists. And sometimes, the user profile can get corrupted. Try creating a new Chrome profile and see if the issue persists: How to use Chrome with multiple profiles - Computer - Google Chrome Help

It’s also possible that since both YouTube and Chrome are Google products, there might be specific optimizations or updates that sometimes cause unexpected issues. These optimizations are generally intended to enhance performance and compatibility, but occasionally, they can lead to conflicts or bugs, especially if there are recent updates or changes. Ensure both Chrome and YouTube are updated to their latest versions. And sometimes, using Incognito mode can bypass certain issues related to cookies or extensions.

If the problem persists, Use Chrome’s feedback tool in Chrome settings to report the problem to Google. They might release a fix in future updates.
