If you’re a bit of a techie, I’d recommend giving https://github.com/anthwlock/untrunc a shot. Just keep in mind, this isn’t your typical online video repair tool. This is a software without UI. If you looking for online tools only and if your file is large, like 1GB+, you’ll need something like this free online video repair option: https://repair.cleverfiles.com. Just a heads up though, it doesn't support the latest H.265 codec as of Sept 5. Hopefully, they’ll update that soon.
How to recover corrupted mp4 video file for free online?
I recently recorded an important video of my friend's wedding using my Gopro, but something went wrong, and now the file won't play. After the ceremony, I noticed that my battery was nearly dead, but I managed to record the whole event. Unfortunately, just before I could save the video, my gopro died. When I charged it back up and tried to open the video, it said the file was corrupted. I think the recording didn’t stop properly because of the battery dying mid-recording. I’ve tried different media players, but nothing works. I’m not sure what went wrong, but I really need to recover this video! Is there any free way to fix this MP4 file online or with software? I'm not super tech-savvy, so a simple tool would be great. Any help is appreciated!

2024-10-09T19:19:47+00:00 Wow! Thanks so much for the suggestion! I couldn't get Untrunck to work because it lacked a proper UI, but Clever Video Repair did the job perfectly – and free of charge too! I’m guessing they’ll eventually introduce monetization, but for now, it’s been a great free tool. The only downside I noticed was that it took a bit of time to load my footage, which makes me think they might be saving on server costs. But overall, I’m really happy with how well it repaired my videos. Thanks again for the helpful tip!
