Hello!
My name is David N. I am a Windows fan and advise people here with Windows questions. I will be happy to assist you with your issue.
A base system device is typically something built-in to the motherboard that is missing a driver. To resolve this, here are some things that you can try.
First, see if Windows Update has a driver for it:
- Choose Start and type "update". Choose "check for updates".
- Choose "Advanced options".
- Choose "Optional updates".
- Check for driver updates and install them.
- Reboot.
if this does not work, your best bet is to contact the manufacturer of your computer, if it is a brand name computer, or the motherboard or laptop. They often also have tools for determining which drivers you might be missing. Update your drivers according to their instructions. Chipset drivers in particular are likely culprits, but you can install other drivers as well.
If you cannot determine what device driver you need, you can identify the device via Device Manager.
- RIght click on the device in Device Manager and choose "Properties".
- Go to the "Details" tab.
- Go to the drop-down menu named properties and select "Hardware Ids."
- Note down the VEN (Vendor) and DEV (Device) IDs. They usually look something like VEN_8086&DEV_1E3A.
- Go to a website such as https://pci-ids.ucw.cz/ and look up the ID to determing the device.
Once you know the device you can go to the manufacturer's website and locate a driver for the device.
I hope this helps! Please let me know if this resolves your issue or if you require additional assistance.
Regards,
David N.
