Update. I managed to resolve this issue by unplugging the monitor from its power source, waiting 30 seconds and then restarting it. Not sure why that version of rebooting it led to different results, but we're back.
External Monitor is detected, but black
My monitor was working perfectly this morning. I left for lunch and came back to a black screen. I've tried installing updates and the hdmi cord, but nothing has fixed this.
The monitor is detected, as I can drag windows over to it. It's just black. Any suggestions?

Just the background is black. change desktop background image
Or as in you need to turn up display brightness
Or is windows apps black as in
Manually reset your monitor on the monitor.
Could be a display adapter or driver issue.
unplug it, restart PC, plug it back in, restart PC again
Look and see if any windows updates installed

My name is Rogelio. I am an Independent Advisor. Thanks for contacting our support.
I could check if the problem is with the monitor or the PC that is not giving video.
