Tamir thank you for being honest. But no matter what anyone says artificial intelligence, especially in the last year should not be in operation. And I simply cannot believe it cannot be stopped. There are millions who do not want artificial intelligence. Who are you kidding? It is NOT a safe technology, and no matter what form it takes, we do not want it. AT ALL. We can stop so far as our hardware and software is concerned. We do not have to use the NPU hardware chips and we do not have to use browsers and search engines that use it. There are those who fostered it from the beginning because they are sick and evil. That is a 100 percent fact. Period. End of Story. GET IT OUT OF OUR HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE. We do not have to go along with it either.
Why don't we get a choice to refuse AI?
I am going to respond to a very nasty Microsoft employee response to another Microsoft user. And you wonder why many people are fed up with Big Tech, including Microsoft and Apple:
"I never advocate making unsupported changes to an operating system, and I don't do it myself. That's just asking for trouble.
Do you really think you can avoid artificial intelligence by ripping it out of your computer? Or that it's gone simply because you can't see it? AI is everywhere, and it's turning up in more places every day. For better or worse, it's the future, and nobody can hide from the future.
You'll be much better off by learning how to deal with AI, because it's surely going to deal with you."
My response: Wow, that's literally sickening and evil, and proves why we do NOT want artificial intelligence ANYWHERE. People should have a choice. Because this Microsoft employee shows why we should be very leary of A.I. and Big Tech. I will NEVER install another Microsoft product EVER again, and you can add Apple to that list. How disturbing is this post that I listed above from this Microsoft employee. Avoid A.I. in all products as much as you can. That means don't upgrade to new devices that have A.I. and NPU chips. Don't use browsers and search engines that have A.I. ---If it gets to a point that it's too invasive, stop using all tech and protest the use of A.I., which is already happening. What did you think Apple and Microsoft? Did you think the majority was all stupid and not paying attention? Wrong.

2024-06-23T04:54:24+00:00 Those comments weren't written by a Microsoft employee, and in fact most posting here are volunteers or simply other users of Windows based computers, though a tiny handful actually have at least a contractor relationship with Microsoft. For example, though I have a Volunteer Moderator label beneath my name, I'm still just a volunteer and receive no compensation for my contributions here, since I'm otherwise just another member of these forums.
The free Copilot app that's now available in Windows 10 or 11 personal machines has always been in operation only if you choose to open the interface and actually use it, so it's as easy to avoid as simply not doing that. It's also had the ability to easily turn off the display of the icon that launches it, so it's not something that anyone is forced to use or even see if they don't wish to.
Though I'm a longtime user of Microsoft products myself, I've been more concerned far longer than most about my privacy, having disabled or limited the collection or sharing of any personal information that I possibly could, including location, browser or app data, as well as 3rd-party cookies and other tracking abilities used for targeted advertising. Though Microsoft has had their issues with some of these too, they've responded far better than most others and provided the tools necessary to allow me to control and limit these, in fact being among the first to make true Tracking protection abilities available that automate much of this for me.
In fact, they've recently added not only a free VPN capability to the Edge browser, but also designed it to automatically send browsing traffic through the VPN for non-verified HTTP websites, or those I specify, or all sites if I prefer, blocking the ability for anyone along the way like my ISP from monitoring this traffic.
The reality is that various forms of Artificial Intelligence have been operating in our world for over a decade and likely far longer in less published circles. We will have to live with it because we already are and even if we attempted to legislate it out of existence, it's already too late, since just as with much earlier and simpler technologies like gunpowder, once the ability to make something is known, it can't be taken back. Everyone with the ability to use it already knows this, so only those without the knowledge required are even discussing this possibility at this point.
The funniest part to me is that the Generative AI that has been the big news lately is really quite a simplistic technology, since at its core it's simply trying to predict the next word based on the words that have come before it in a piece of text. Think, for example, if you're writing a text message on your smartphone and the texting app provides a list of 3 words you might wish to type next. Generative AI is just better at predicting which of these words you might want to use and in fact I've noticed a marked improvement in the accuracy and usefulness of the words my own texting app has offered in the last few months.
Generative AI can do many other similar things like help you write a search request, resume, letter, or even something longer like a story for example. However, it's not the same thing as the Artificial General Intelligence that many believe, which tries to match or surpass human capabilities across a wide range of cognitive tasks. This is the type of AI that seems to scare and confuse everyone.
I don't know which of the conflated stories you've heard that's making you concerned, but as someone who's been highly concerned about the potential abuse of the information collected by browsers and search engines, these recent developments relating to Generative AI and Large-Language Models cause me far less concern. Those likely to be most affected like story writers or others responsible for creating often repetitive text need to be aware how it might affect their careers, but this technology isn't likely to affect most people beyond making it easier to quickly create a text message or some other document they rarely write like a resume.
For context, note that I was offered the ability to use an early version of what's now Copilot to write my posts here, but opted not to, since the one time I tried it wrote nothing useful, since my own posts differ radically from most here. Since I choose to write my own often much longer posts about different things than most, quite often changing them each time based on new information I've learned, the ability for generative AI to aid in my posts is limited, though it might arguably make writing them faster similar to how it aids me with text messages.
I simply don't want to take the time to teach a dumb computer what I already know.

2024-06-23T05:37:16+00:00 Rob, this particular person does work for Microsoft in some way. I do not think they are a volunteer. I did not even say who they were, so do not give me that scapegoat ****. I do not buy it. And it does not matter. They were talking with an utmost authoritarian attitude and response, so they definitely are directly connected to supporting this AI and Microsoft, and big tech. I am not an idiot. You are talking to someone who knows all about this garbage, because I was exposing it as a child, and I was far from the only one.
There are MANY people against it, talking about it and exposing it all over the world, which includes many whistleblowers. Also, many people are aware of how dangerous and virus like it is, and can be. Do not think we are naive. This goes back to the 50s with machine learning going forward. But it has only been utterly in the aggressive and open spot in the last 1 to 2 years. That was the point.
WE DO NOT HAVE TO COMPLY. AND WE DO NOT HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT. ANYONE WHO SAYS OTHERWISE IS PART OF THE PROBLEM OF WHY TECHNOLOGY HAS GOTTEN SO INTRUSIVE. And many of us are avoiding AI in many ways by not upgrading or using hardware and software that employs it, and/or limiting it all we can. Trust me, I know what to look for and how AI operates, and what it does. I can tell you things that are not going to be published, but it is being brought out.
You literally spent all that time writing NOTHING, because you think you have something to validate or prove that somehow says we cannot get around or find other ways to avoid AI. Because we can, and are doing it. Any person that says we just have to let it happen and be forced to take it is a sick and communist-type person. Because TRUE freedom loving people NEVER allow their human and civil rights to just be squashed and looked over. This is wrong, and part of what has hurt our world. It is what caused election fraud and globalism, both of which have hurt us severely, and also allowed these evil and dangerous duality technologies to overtake us more than they should.
Well, with every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Remember that. You can say and think any watered down nonsense you want. Generative AI is far from the only type of AI that has been talked about. ALL of it is being talked about and exposed in more ways than you think. NO part of AI is good. And businesses are probably losing money in some ways because many people have decided to leave technology behind. I do not blame them, because these globalist businesses and entities wants to control and overtake all of us. This is unethical, unconstitutional and wrong. PERIOD. I do not want any other responses. Artificial intelligence can easily be stopped, so do not tell me otherwise. That is a lie to say that we have to live with it and that it cannot be permanently stopped, and any smart person knows it.

2024-06-23T03:17:11+00:00 Hi my name is Tamir, IM a microsoft user like you, I'm sorry that is not the correct response anyone should have gave to you. And i understand you concern about AI, i'm not a fan of it myself but sadly it does exist. Only way to stop is if law are written to stop it but that does not look like the case at this moment. AI is suppose to better our lives at least that what we are told but it does have it downfalls and lots of problem. Company like apple and Microsoft use to automate their process but like you mention it cause problems. I agree you should get the option to Opt out but nothing has been made to give you that option yet, doesn't mean it won't happen just haven't happen yet. the more people complain and expressing their opinion the more company will try to update the AI integration.

2024-08-16T04:48:47+00:00 The employee in the original post who said "AI will certainly deal with you." Should be fired immediately regardless of their seniority or skill set. Having that sort of mind set when you work for such a powerful organization can not be tolerated under any circumstances.
In the second post: People are complaining about AI intrusion into their lives and people are fed up with Big Tech, to the point where we are asking ourselves: If such a large company can exist and make so much money while also operating without any employees due to AI, and this company pays very little to no taxes then what purpose does this company serve at all? A company that develops technology that devalues human labor and removes the impetus for learning doesn't deserve to exist. If Microsoft is engaged in this development, and people have determined that their product harms their life, then Microsoft deserves to go bankrupt.
Big Tech is censoring any opinion that is critical of AI or raises valid ethical concerns over its use. AI isn't a revolution that anyone wants and that would be apparent to Microsoft if they weren't so bent on being authoritarian.
