Re-install/Fresh-install Azure back up server

I need to rebuild a new Azure backup server, but copy all the same protection groups etc.
Can I simply export the old protection groups with powershell, build a new box, re-import the groups, and it will resume with the same backups already in the recovery vault in Azure?

Obviously a rebuild means new DB etc, and setting up the link to the backup vault online, we will retain the backups online? Will it match the VMware GUID for each VM and be able to tell they have backups already in cloud?

thanks

    Hi @T16 ,

Unfortunately you cannot/export save the protection groups, what I would suggest is that you document how each protection group is configured and which workloads they have.

The protection groups are stored in the database, so if you choose to reinstall Azure Backup server with the existing database, your protection groups will be saved.

If you want to fresh install from scratch with a new database, then you'll need to rebuild every protection group.
