How to prevent Windows 11 for updating the UEFI boot order?

Every time I boot Windows 11 (with which I am happy), it updates the boot order to put the windows UFI first time. Windows should not alter the boot order it finds in the system, and damn sure it should not do it without obtaining first confirmation from the user. This behavior of the OS is just not acceptable, and unbelievable that a company like Microsoft allows that (and I am saying that Microsoft allows it, because there are plenty of similar complaints with other versions of windows even in this very same forum... so its not a "just introduced bug").

Therefore: is there any way to prevent windows from altering the existing UEFI boot order?

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

I understand that you are facing the issue of UEFI boot order changing after an update.

Typically, Windows updates do not change the UEFI boot order. It may be due to a firmware update on your motherboard after the update, which can reset the UEFI boot order to default. If you are using a dual-boot system, there may be changes in the boot order between the two systems. In this case, you can refer to the motherboard manual to manually change the UEFI boot order.

If you encounter more issues during the process, you can post your question on the Microsoft Learn forum, where more experts can help you with the issue. If you still have any thoughts on the current issue, you can provide feedback to the Microsoft team.

Microsoft attaches great importance to user experience, you can submit your ideas and suggestions through the Feedback Hub, and the development team will regularly review submissions for ideas or fixes.

    Hi,

I have a dual boot system, Arch Linux - Windows. While I only use arch, for work, every time I boot I get the menu to load the firmware for Linux or Windows. The moment I boot with Windows, all works... but at the next boot what I get is:

There are 2 additional boot entries, replicating the existent Linux and Windows entries, with data attached at the end of the path to the EFI loaders (as if the strings were not properly terminated before writing them to UEFI), those entries have priority over the existent ones, and the order has switched from Linux-Windows to Windows-Linux. And this is happening every single time I boot Windows, meaning: Maybe typically Windows does not do this, but in my system it typically does it.
