As a workaround, go to Apps, and open Phone screen. That way, you can still use the native app in real time to respond to messages using RCS. Hopefully, the developers will do something about it soon because it doesn't just affect the RCS messages, but the group messages where there are all RCS users from Samsung/Apple. It doesn't know how to handle it at all.
Why doesn't Phone Link support RCS?
The only way you can send RCS messages through Microsoft Phone Link is by having a Samsung phone that's set to use the Samsung Messages app and allowed to use RCS in that app by your carrier. That's completely ridiculous in 2024. RCS is not a new thing or special feature anymore, it's a basic texting technology that over 1 billion people use now through Google Messages and even Apple is going to adopt in iOS 18; if Microsoft wants anyone to care about Phone Link, they should've added real support for it a long time ago. They're probably losing a lot of ground to messages.google.com because of this.

2024-07-03T15:41:30+00:00 I couldn't agree more, I've been saying this since Phone Link came about and when they made the deal with Samsung.
What makes this even more ironic is that Samsung started shipping their devices with Google Message as the default messaging application last year. So forcing the use of Samsung Messages for this "feature" is pointless.
To make this decision worse... Android has accounted for 80%+ on average in global market share since Q2 2022. Sure Samsung is the top dog in that share averaging 16%+ over that time, but that means Microsoft is leaving 80% or more of Android users worldwide out of the equation for optimal Phone Link usage.
I have to believe that the contract with Samsung has to be coming to an end really soon.

This means I can pin the website to my taskbar currently and reply normally.
Annoyingly Phone link was working a few weeks ago. The texts just went out as SMS rather than with RCS. This is fine for quick acknowledgments using the PC. Hopefully Windows 11 24H2 resolves these issues soon. Only 1 week for the update to be available.
