Trojan:Win32/WinLnk.PXJ!MTB. Threat found-action needed.

Hello lads,

I have a situation where on Windows Security: Virus&Threat protection it says that there are threats found and that I should start recommended actions.

I need help with that because whenever I press on Actions-Remove It doesn't actually do anything.

I have downloaded MalwareBytes and scanned my pc however the antivirus doesn't find any trojan viruses or any other kind.

I'm really concerned since Windows says that the threat is SEVERE! and actions are needed.

So i'm in desperate need of your help guys, Thanks in advance!!!!

P.S.

Those notifications of Windows Security warnings: "Threat found-action needed." pop up everytime I turn on my pc.

    Hi Dominic,

Its quite likely that this is a bug, where Windows Defender flags things because of their presence in detection history.

To resolve the issue use one of these methods:

    Method 1

    First boot into safe mode:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-your-pc-in-safe-mode-in-windows-92c27cff-db89-8644-1ce4-b3e5e56fe234

    Delete the DetectionHistory folder from:

    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Scans\History\Service\DetectionHistory

    Restart your computer.

Note: To see the ProgramData folder and subfolders,  make sure you are showing hidden files and folders.

    • Windows 10: In File Explorer, select the View tab > check (tick) Hidden items
    • Windows 11: In File Explorer, select View > Show > check Hidden items

    Method 2

Use the tool I wrote specifically to delete detection history. There's no need to boot to safe mode, just unzip, run and restart.

Run it a second time if it fails first run.

    Hiii,

I've already done a scan with this tool.(I did both Quick Scan and Full Scan.) At the end no malicious software was detected...

So I'm really confused because Windows keeps warning me about a virus.

If you keep Windows up to date you should find this under your updates, Other Updates.

You can find it here too and download and run it.
