Fault 0x87d1fde8 in Password Profile for password type and length

For some time only 2 of our 19 laptops keep getting faultcode 0x87d1fde8 (Remediation failed) for the password type and the length of the password in the Password Profile in Device configuration. I know that for both laptops the type and the length of the passwords are correct. We have minimum demands in Intune because the policy is already secured in Azure (so I have been told by our Azure administrator)

Does anyone know in what area I should search to solve this problem?

Experienced this exact error message after updating our Compliance Policy Password Requirements.
MS Guidance indicated that having the user reset the password would resolve this issue, this was not the case.

Further research led me to find that the CSP's do not allow the "Special Character" option on Win10 machines.
We altered the Compliance profile password complexity to omit the Special Character requirement and all devices became complaint again w/in 24 hours.

Still looking into how we can enforce this requirement and monitor the results from our Compliance Policy.

@David Spee Thanks for reaching out.

This error mostly comes For Android and Windows desktop devices, password policies can't be immediately enforced on the users by using device restriction policies. If the user doesn't change the password as required by the policy, the error remains.

To fix the issue, direct the users to change their password.

On the Android platform, the end user must accept the password change notification.
On the Windows MDM desktop platform, the user must press CTRL+ALT+DEL and click Change Password, and then the new password rules will be enforced.

We are seeing the exact same issue. My device is alerting and yet I know the password has been reset to the proper length and complexity. This is a confounding error as it keep the device from connecting to company resources and receiving additional policy updates. Please provide more context for errors and fix this issue.

Hi, we are facing this issue too, mostly with Android and Apple mobile devices. We are planning to notify users by email to update their password on the device, hopefully it should fix the problem.
