Public IP Tenant Move

Hi All,

I'm moving all resources from one tenant to another.

I was wondering if there is a way to move the public IP as well. Both Subs are CSP.

I tried to export / deploy template but the IP doesn't come over even if that's specified on the paramenters.

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Platform. Thank you for reaching out & hope you are doing well.

As per this article,

Azure Public IPs are region specific and can't be moved from one region to another. So make sure that the Azure Public IP is in the Azure region from which you want to move.
Since, Azure Public IPs can't be moved between regions, you'll have to associate the new public IP to resources in the target region.

NOTE : Please note that VPN Gateways associated with Public IP Standard SKU addresses are not currently able to move between resource groups or subscriptions.

So, if you are moving the Public IP from one tenant to another and have changed the region of the source Public IP in the target tenant, the IP address will not be retained.

Thanks for the reply.

No, I'm not moving regions it will be the same, just the tenant will change.

Yeah I explored that option with the AZRM but it only does RG and Subs move, not tenant.

Is there any way to do that tenant to tenant?

Hello @Jonny Moura ,

As per this article,

The source and destination subscriptions must exist within the same Azure Active Directory tenant.
If the tenant IDs for the source and destination subscriptions aren't the same, use the following methods to reconcile the tenant IDs:

Transfer ownership of an Azure subscription to another account
How to associate or add an Azure subscription to Azure Active Directory

Ok that makes no sense Gitarani - If they can't be moved then ok...But "make sure that the public IP is in the Azure region from which you want to move." I have public IP 20.236.184.xxx associated with my VM in Southcentral US....I know it's there, I am using it...Now I need to "move" my VM to another region, but I can not "move" my public ip to the new region?
