Opening Services.msc gives "Error 1722: The RPC server is unavailable"

Going to Start -> Services.msc on Windows 8.1 gives the following error:

    Hi,

    The "RPC server is unavailable" error can occur for the following reasons:

    DNS problems

    Time synchronization problem

    RPC service is not running

    Network connectivity problem

    RPC service-
    Ensure the RPC service is running.

    Network connectivity-
    Ensure that the important well-known ports required in a domain environment are open on the firewall between these DCs, use the Portqry tool.

    Hello,

    I recently had the same issue. Enabling Network & Internet >Advanced network settings>"File and Printer Sharing" appears to resolve the issue. 🤷‍♀️

    Hopefully there is a more granular settings that will accomplish this. From a security standpoint solution seems overly broad if your goal is simply remote administration.
