Video Scheduler Internal Error and other crashes

Hello all, I've recently had a few issues with my PC, with it feeling sluggish, chugging and also a few crashes. I've had around 5 crashes in total, with 4 of them needing me to restart my PC by pressing the power button, as they have not led to a BSOD. Only once have I had a BSOD, and this produced a Video Scheduler Internal Error.

Each time I've had the crash, it is shortly after starting and logging into my PC, the video output freezes, and I hear a buzzing sound (which I think is the audio glitching and repeating a fraction of sound).

Originally, I believe the issue started after I installed a new video driver from Nvidia, ready to play the game Starfield, this driver led to performance errors in the game as well as the crashes, so I rolled back the driver through windows and still got a crash afterwards. I still get the sluggishness, but task manager doesn't really give me too much information in regards to where the issue lies, apart from firefox using a large amount of memory (what browser doesn't?)

I only have one .dmp file, which I assume is from the only true BSOD I've had, and this is linked here.

    apologies for replying late, but I just wanted to test a few things and see if what I did would hold.

    I seem to have stopped the bluescreens by switching internet browser. I noticed that my crashes would happen when watching videos on Firefox (with hardware acceleration on and off) shortly after booting the computer.

    I've swapped to a new browser and am able to watch videos after logon with no issues.

    It makes zero sense to me, but if it works I'll take it!

    Hello David,

    Thank you for getting back to the message so quickly!

    I used DDU to reinstall my drivers fresh, and today around 10 minutes after turning my PC on and logging in, the same issue. The screens turned black, audio continued for a few seconds, then it made the audio freeze sound, and my screens failed to show any output.

    As it's not generating a BSOD I can't see what error is causing the issue.. Any ideas?

    Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

    The minidump mentions the driver "dxgmms2.sys" as the cause of the crash. It's usually a problem with the graphics card driver.

    Doing a clean install of the driver usually resolves the issue.

    Download the latest driver for your graphics card from the Nvidia website. Then, use the free DDU tool to remove the current driver. Then, install the latest driver using the installer you downloaded.

    I didn't find an error that could be directly related to the last crash you had. But, since you had BSOD issues before, system files might be corrupted. These corrupted files may have caused this crash.

    I suggest you perform an In-place Upgrade. This procedure reinstalls Windows, which helps fix file corruption and other issues.

    But don't worry. You have the option to keep files, settings, and apps.

    1. Download the Media Creation Tool and run it;

    Access the link below and click on "Download tool now".

    1. Accept the terms of use;
    2. Select "Upgrade this PC now" and click "Next";
    3. At the "Ready to install" screen, select "Choose what to keep" and select what you want to keep.
    4. Click "Install" and wait for the procedure to finish. Your computer may restart several times.

    After completing the procedure, use the computer as usual and see if it will work stably.

    See if the crash created a new minidump and send it for analysis.
