I have an email account on my office 365 that will be used for marketing purpose (on license exchange online plan 1)

according to the site there is the below limitation

1- Recipient rate limit : 10,000 recipients per day2

2- Recipient limit: 500 recipients

3- Recipient proxy address limit: 400

4- Message rate limit: 30 messages per minute

We will be sending the emails using our CRM software so the point number 2/3 will not be an issue.

We will not be sending more then 10,000 emails per day so number 1 is not an issue

My question is point 4. If I send example 3000 emails at one go through our software. Does it mean that emails will take 100 minutes (3000/30=100) for them to be sent all?

    Hello Dave,

Thanks for your post in Microsoft Community. Generally Office 365 not support for legitimate bulk email. Yes, Office 365 imposes a limit of 30 messages sent per minute, so this is not feasible to send bulk email (such as 3000 emails) at one go. If a user submits messages at a rate that exceeds the limit, the messages will be rejected with receiving bounce back message and the client will need to retry. So for the best practice we always recommend users to send 30 messages in a minutes and maintain other sending limits to avoid mail bounce back issue.

Thank you for your kind understanding.

    Thanks and regards,

    Hello Dave,

Thank you for your response. Exchange Online customers who need to send legitimate bulk commercial email should use third-party providers that specialize in these services.

As we are from O365 Business Online team, we don’t have expertise for third party applications. Further sending email through application is totally depends on your application compatibility with O365 Exchange Online. O365 Exchange Online limits are standard and we cannot change 30 message rate for per minutes. As you are using CRM application, so we recommend you to check with your Application support team for enable option to set limit for 30 message per minute.

    Thanks and regards,
