[Windows 11] How to get rid of Game Input FOR EVER

I'm playing lot of racing games with a wheel, but this stupid "Microsoft Game Input" App, always thinks it's smarter than me. It probably switches to some kind of keyboard mode, when I tab out of the game, but wheels and the games don't like them to be dis- and reconnected. This leads to the Force Feedback and more of the wheel not working anymore, when I tab back in and I have to reselect the wheel in the settings or even restart the game, which is super annoying.

Already deleted the App many times, but it seems to automatically reinstall after 1. updates and 2. simple PC restarts. Is there a way to stop that?

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

To permanently disable the Microsoft Game Input app in Windows 11, you can follow these steps:

    1. Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
    2. Type "services.msc" (without quotes) and press Enter to open the Services window.
    3. In the Services window, scroll down and locate the "GameInput Service" entry.
    4. Right-click on "GameInput Service" and select Properties.
    5. In the Properties window, under the General tab, change the Startup type to "Disabled".
    6. Click on the Stop button to stop the service if it is currently running.
    7. Click Apply and then OK to save the changes.

This will disable the GameInput Service and prevent it from automatically starting up again. However, please note that disabling this service may affect the functionality of other gaming devices or controllers that rely on it.

Additionally, it's worth mentioning that disabling or uninstalling system services can have unintended consequences and may cause other issues on your system. Proceed with caution and consider creating a system restore point before making any changes.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any further updates, thanks.

    Best regards

This has killed my productivity on an extremely important project and caused file corruption. Fix it already. Most people haven't figured out that it is the GameInput service yet or they would be here. They are all calling me and I can't even fix it myself. This will appear to work "better?" for a brief period then BSOD. So frustrated right now. Please respond if you find a more permanent solution. CoPilot was useless.

Precisely I need to get rid of it, it has been impossible to play Minecraft and other games without getting a BSOD, the workaround always been uninstalling Gameinput but always it’s forced to install automatically, causing the BSOD again
