Okay, Thank you
Avast crippled my Startup
I recently discovered Avart AV unknowingly pre-installed but inactive (I exclusively use Windws Secuity - and Norton before that). I tried to Uninstall Avast with Windows Uninstaller. Unsuccessful.
Avast website advises to D/L and uninstall with their dedicated Uninstaller app. Partial success, which resulted in a 'Fail' message. Then I ran IOBit (Free) Uninstaller to clear junk. Some success but still plenty files and some folders are left (including within the Windows OS itself).
However now, 'Restart' is almost immediately interupted by a 'blue-screen' with a choice of 2 options. 'Boot with Windows 10' or 'Boot with Avast Antivirus'. Selecting 'Windows 10' is consistently successful as you might expect.
I don't intend to select the alternative option but I would like it - and the rest of it's left-overs if possible - to be gone. Any helpful explanations or guidance please? I can't spot a Windows Startup Solution that will avoid changes to my Apps and Data..

2023-06-15T14:16:56+00:00 Thankyou Janini,
I did not scroll down far enough in the report to find this gem which is not as well reported as the other less recoverable solutions. When I have backed up and feel brave enough, I will activate it.
Peter.

2023-06-15T09:41:07+00:00 Hello Dhanam, Thanks for your prompt response and the link. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/reinstall-windows-d8369486-3e33-7d9c-dccc-859e2b022fc7 Reinstall Windows https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/reinstall-windows-d8369486-3e33-7d9c-dccc-859e2b022fc7#bkmk_reinstall_windows_10_using_installation_media
Types of reinstalls offered:
1 - Reset Win 10 - Keep my files
2 - Reset Win 10 - Remove everything
3 - Reinstal Win 10 using installation media - KEEP EVERYTHING (Default)
4 - Reinstal Win 10 using installation media - Keep Personal Data
5 - Reinstal Win 10 using installation media - Keep nothing
6 - Clean install of Windows 10 using installation media - N/A
So choosing 3- Reinstall Windows 10 using installation media claims to povide the following results:
- All apps and settings are Preserved
- Personal data stored under \Users\ are Preserved
- Data stored in other folders or drives are Preserved
- Disk space required is High
My Local Disk C\ NTFS druve on HP Desktop Win 10 PC (excluding all other partitions) is 918Gb, Used space 166Gb, Freespace 751Gb. So apparently offering an acceptable environment for this recovery option.
But: Selecting the link for Reset Win 10 using installation media (Keep Everything - Default), https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/reinstall-windows-d8369486-3e33-7d9c-dccc-859e2b022fc7#bkmk_reinstall_windows_10_using_installation_media
Which turns out to be the same link as above, returning you to the Home Page. This also applies to someof the other 5 links by the way.
So are you able guide me to the correct instructions or am I missing something? And is this really possible anyway?
Regards, Peter.
