My microphone isn't working with third party apps (Solved)

I have been using my laptop for several months now and my microphone has always worked fine. Today I have noticed that it is having problems.

The microphone works fine on settings> sound >input. The microphone is called Microphone Array Intel Smart Sound Technology for Digital Microphones.

But when I try to use Zoom, Discord, Steam, or any other third party app, the apps are not detecting audio.

I have gone into Privacy and Security> Microphone and allowed microphone access. I have also enabled Let desktop apps access your microphone. I can also see the access requests under recent activity and they all say accessed.

In the control panel, under recording, my microphone array is set as default and is enabled.

I have also used HP's driver and support assistant to check for driver updates. After detecting my laptop it states that all the drivers are up to date. I cannot find a manual download for my microphone driver.

I am using Windows 11, and my laptop system model is HP ENVY LAPTOP 17-ch0000

Ok so I have figured out what the problem is and thought I would share the solution in case anyone has the same issue.

So my laptop has Bang & Olufsen on it and its caused some problems. I had to go the Bang & Olufsen app, select noise cancellation, and turn off "All noise removal applied to input device". Once I did that, it all started to work again.

Hope this helps someone.

perfect, what are your voice settings set to in steam and discord?

aside from those 3 3rd party apps, have you had the same issue with any other apps?

Have we already tried uninstalling apps and reinstalling them?

Yes, I have looked on Zoom, Discord and Steam. it notices that the mic is there but no sound.

The mic works on Edge, and on the system> sound settings as i can see the bar moving when i speak. but not on third party apps.

I have microphone access turned on, let apps use your microphone turned on, and let desktop apps use your microphone turned on.

When I go onto an app and check the voice settings I see the mic icon appear at the bottom right of my screen and its says "apps using your microphone steam" for example
