Internet Upload Speed

I had been running Windows 11 for several years on my Dell XPX 8930, with Download speeds exceeding 900 Mbps and Upload speed in excess of 50 Mbps. I am using Cat 6 cable to connect to my modem-router. A few days ago the upload speed suddenly went down to about 1 Mbps.

When I removed the Cat cable and connected via WIFI the Upload speed went back to about 50 Mbps. When I conected the same Cat cabe to my Laptop the Upload speed was again in excess of 50Mbps

I cummunicated with my Internet provider and we concluded that that the problem was with the Computer-software and not the Internet provider, modem or cabeling . As I was unable to resolve the problem I reinstalled Windows 11, but as my computer initially came preloaded with Window 10, the restore version also was Windows 10.

After Windows 10 was installed I tested the Upload speed and it was in excess of 50 Mbps as it used to be. But then, to my surprise, when I upgraded to Windows 11 the Upload speed went down again to about 1Mbps.

It apperas to me that the issue is with Windows 11 or some setting of it.

Can anyone sugget a fix for this peculiar problem.

Thanks in advance

Rudi

Hello! My name is Mostafa, and I will try my best to assist you with this so that you find a satisfactory solution.

I’m sorry that you are experiencing this issue. It's unfortunate that you're experiencing a sudden decrease in upload speed after upgrading to Windows 11. Please try the following steps:

    1. Uninstall your network adaptor restart your PC, and install the latest version.
    2. Adjust Power Management Settings: Open the Device Manager, locate your network adapter, right-click on it, select Properties, and go to the Power Management tab. Uncheck the option that allows the computer to turn off the device to save power.
    3. Disable QoS (Quality of Service): Open the Network and Sharing Center, click on your network connection, select Properties, and uncheck the QoS option if it's enabled.
    4. Reset Network Settings: Open the Command Prompt as an administrator and run the following commands one by one:

    netsh winsock reset

    netsh int ip reset

    ipconfig /release

    ipconfig /renew

    ipconfig /flushdns

After running these commands, restart your computer and check if the upload speed has improved.

    1. Configure Power Management
    2. Press Win + R, input ncpa.cpl and click OK.
    3. Right-click on your Wi-Fi adapter and click Properties.
    4. Click Configure, go to Power Management, and ensure the box of Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power is unchecked.
    5. Click OK to save the change.
    6. Temporarily disable any third-party firewall or antivirus software to check if they are causing the issue. If disabling them improves the upload speed, you may need to configure the software or add exceptions to allow network traffic.

If the above steps do not help, reach out to me, and I will be happy to help and try my best to resolve your issue. Thank you.

    Best,

    Mostafa
