All drivers are freshly installed and up to date. Graphics card is barely a year old and all cables also checked. The monitor thats not detected does work also.

Everything worked until 2days ago when windows updated and now windows does not detect the second display.

Please help thank you.

Hello ScrP, welcome to the Microsoft community, I'll be happy to help you today;

I understand that after an update the second monitor is not detected;

What exactly is the model and manufacturer of your graphics card?

Are you using an HDMI cable to connect the second monitor?

Are you using a laptop or desktop?

Before answering the question, I suggest you try to force the detection of the second monitor;

Press Windows key + i and go to System;

Click Display;

Scroll down to Multiple screens, click Detect;

Then press the keys together: Windows key + P and select the Extend option;

Verify that the second monitor is detected;

See you soon!

    Hi thank you for replie.

    .The force detect did not work.

    Graphics (Radeon RX 6600)

    internal graphics ( Radeon vega 11)

    .Going out (HDMI adpt. -> VGA to screen) for second monitor

    .Main monitor /not detected one is (Display adpt -> HDMI to screen).

    I might have found the issue. Although it doesnt explain the timing with update.

    What are the chances of the Display port to Hdmi adapter to just break? I plugged out all the monitors and plugged the main monitor via HMDI and worked , but as soon as i plugged the adapter to display port its not working. (What are the chances that its the display port on the graphics card itself vs the adapter?)

    (The issue of display came before adapter "broke" cause the first time the monitor did not get detected i plugged it out and in again and got conection for both monitors)

    I came here looking for a solution and couldn't find one.

    I have an HDMI↔HDMI cable, identical on both ends. I simply switched the ends. Note that for a couple of years now, it has worked just fine the way it was... until I updated Windows the other day. Literally just turned the thing around.

    I feel like mentioning that there is, in my experience, 100% consistency in the Microsoft-approved method *not* working. "Click on detect". Y'think? Can't speak for anyone else, but the reason I'm here is that that stuff doesn't work. Maybe I'm just frustrated.

    Yes I am in the same boat. I have three dell 2723qe displays. . .When I turn the computer on, I see the boot up logo on all three screens, so I know there is not hardware issue, cable or otherwise. However when the window's login screen comes up, on the main display of the three is working. And then after booting into windows, same. Only the main display works. the other two are not seen and cannot be detected.

    This is really killing my workflow as I work remotely. 100% sure this is a Windows issue or at least windows made some type of change. This setup has worked without flawlessly for over a year until this my most recent update.
