Headset not working. I get an error stating "USB device not recognized".

I have a HyperX Cloud 2 headset and have for over 4 months. it was working fine the first 4 months but then one day randomly it stopped working. i would try unplugging it and putting it in a different USB port but it would still not work. It works fine just using the jack straight into the computer but I cant use the cable connected (I have a wired headset). When I plug it in I get a crackling noise in the headset. I've tried updating the drivers but it says that i already have the latest drivers installed, I tried searching online but to no avail. I have included a screenshot that might help you to understand my situation. Please help.

    Hi Dean,

As a fellow windows user, I am happy to help you today.

It sounds like your HyperX Cloud 2 headset may be experiencing a hardware issue, specifically with the USB cable. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Try plugging the headset into a different USB port on your computer.
    2. Try plugging the headset into a different computer to see if it works there.
    3. Check the USB cable for any physical damage or fraying. If you see any damage, the cable may need to be replaced.
    4. Uninstall the drivers for the headset and then reinstall them. To do this, go to Device Manager, locate the HyperX Cloud 2 headset, right-click it and select "Uninstall device". Then, restart your computer and reinstall the drivers.
    5. Try using a different USB cable with the headset to see if that solves the issue.

The error message "unknown USB device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" is a common issue that can occur when you connect a USB device to your computer. There are a few things you can try to resolve this issue:

Apart from the steps mentioned above :

    • Check for hardware issues: If none of the above solutions work, it is possible that there is a hardware issue with the USB device or your computer's USB ports. Try connecting the USB device to another computer to see if it works properly, and consider getting it checked by a technician if necessary.
    • Disable USB selective suspend: USB selective suspend can also cause issues with USB devices, so try disabling it by going to Power Options > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings > USB settings > USB selective suspend setting > Disabled.

Hopefully, one of these solutions will fix the "unknown USB device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" error for you.

I am here, if you need further help.
