Bluetooth headphones paired and connected, but no sound: Properties Page cannot be adjusted, Troubleshooting claims the headphones are not "Plugged in"

Until yesterday my bluetooth headphones were working fine. Today no longer. They can be connected and play a little sound when connecting, but no system sounds or media can be played through them.

In Settings->System->Sound->All Sound Devices->Properties, I cannot adjust the values "Audio" Allow/Disallow or "Volume" (which is stuck on 0 mute).

"Troubleshoot common sound problems" claims the Bluetooth headphones aren't "plugged in".

I've tried: restart, system and windows updates, update headphone driver, turn off/on bluetooth, bluetooth troubleshooting, audio troubleshooting.

Thanks for any additional suggestions.

"However, it appears that you are still unable to resolve the issue. Here are a few additional suggestions that might help: > Make sure that your headphones are fully charged and turned on. > Remove the paired Bluetooth headphones from the device and then pair them again. > Try connecting the headphones to a different device to check if the issue persists. > Check if there are any pending updates for your Windows device. "

The headphones are fully charged and turned on. Removing the headphones and pairing again does not fix the issue. The headphones work fine with other devices. The computer and OS are up-to-date, as are the drivers for the headphones.

The manufacturer of the headphone says to ask Microsoft for help. The problem is clearly a Windows software issue - the headphones play a notification sound upon pairing, but will not play media, as they are not recognized as an output device.

This problem has not always been present. The headphones worked fine with computer for several months.

Any update on this? I am having the same issue on my laptop. I tried different Bluetooth headsets and I can connect with them all and it shows in the Bluetooth settings connected music/voice but I am not hearing any sound.

    Hi Kevin, I'm John D,

I am sorry to hear about the trouble you are facing with your Bluetooth headphones. Based on the information you have provided, it seems that your Windows device is not recognizing your headphones properly. It's good to know that you have already tried a few troubleshooting steps like updating the headphone driver and turning Bluetooth on and off.

However, it appears that you are still unable to resolve the issue. Here are a few additional suggestions that might help:

    > Make sure that your headphones are fully charged and turned on.

    > Remove the paired Bluetooth headphones from the device and then pair them again.

    > Try connecting the headphones to a different device to check if the issue persists.

    > Check if there are any pending updates for your Windows device.

If the issue still persists, I would recommend reaching out to the manufacturer of your headphones for further assistance. They may be able to provide specific guidance based on the model of your headphones.

I hope these suggestions help you resolve the issue soon.

    Best regards,

    John D.
