HP Omen 15 laptop keeps crashing and BSOD. Primarily occurs during gaming but also occasionally while idle

Hello. I have had my HP Omen 15 gaming laptop for about 3ish years at this point and a few months ago I began having issues with crashing. I have tried some different suggestions I have tried a variety of solutions including reinstalling my GPU driver and any other out of date driver with no luck. Most time the crash occurs while gaming. The computer either just goes to black and restarts itself or it BSODs. It usually only crashes once a day. Certain games tend to crash more often. Slay the Spire would never crash for me while League of Legends, Risk of Rain 2, and Monster Hunter Rise were more prone to crashing. I am suspicious of a GPU issue but lack the technical skill to analyze dump files to help diagnose this issue so I was hoping someone here could help out.

My specs are below:

System Model: OMEN Laptop 15-en0xxx

Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 4800H with Radeon Graphics (16 CPUs), ~2.9GHz

RAM: 16 GB RAM (two 8 GB sticks)

            Storage: 1 TB SSD

            GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1660 Ti

Below is a link to a zipped copy of the dump files, hopefully I did that correctly.

Thanks in advance for the help.

    Hi Josh,

I'm Dyari. Thanks for reaching out. I will be happy to assist you in this regard.

As you expected, the minidump files indicate atikmdag.sys as a cause of the BSOD which is related to the AMD graphics card device driver.

To fix the issue, kindly uninstall the current AMD graphics card driver completely using this DDU free utility, then download/install the latest graphics card driver or a driver that is compatible with your computer only from the manufacturer's official website:

Please let me know if you need further assistance and keep me updated.

Hi Dyari. Thank you for your help. I have just did as you recommended and uninstalled the AMD graphics drivers with DDU and reinstalled the latest ones. Hopefully this fixes the issue. I will monitor for the next week and see if the problem is resolved and update you based on that.

Just an update, had no issues until the 11th where it crashed while playing league of legends. However this crash was different than all the previous ones as it did not BSOD or just restart but instead made a weird static sound before eventually black screening and requiring a manual shutdown. Hopefully this is just a one off and unrelated but I will continue to monitor for now and keep you updated.

Hello Dyari, I hope this support thread is still being monitored otherwise I will open a new one. The computer had been running fine throughout April and May with no issues until about last week when it began to crash again. At first it was just one off so I brushed it off but today it started to BSOD and crashed on me twice within a couple hours. During the last BSOD it gave a Stop Code Clock Watchdog Timeout error. Below are the most recent DMP files. In the meantime I will try to redownload the drivers again.
