I see, restoring your PC to an earlier point in time can be a good way to recover lost or deleted files. Based on the error message you received, it seems that the restore process is encountering an issue while attempting to delete a file.

Here are some additional steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem:

Disable your antivirus software temporarily and try running the system restore again. Sometimes antivirus software can interfere with the restore process and cause errors.

Run the system restore from Safe Mode. To do this, restart your computer and press F8 repeatedly until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears. Select "Safe Mode" and log in to your account. Then try running the system restore again.

Run a disk check to make sure that there are no issues with your hard drive. To do this, open Command Prompt as an administrator and type "chkdsk C: /f" (without quotes) and press Enter. This will scan your hard drive for errors and fix any issues it finds.

Try running the system restore from a bootable recovery drive. This can help to isolate any issues with your operating system or hard drive that may be causing the problem.

Hello Will. I'm Greg, here to help you with this.

When System Restore fails from Windows, you can try it from the built-in WinRE Repair Mode accessed by one of the methods shown here:

    https://www.elevenforum.com/t/boot-to-advanced-...

What was the cleanup app you ran that deleted your important files? Did you check in the desktop Recycle Bin? https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-restore-deleted...

Do you have any backup anywhere else - on a phone, another PC, in an old hard drive or old PC?

If not then so you never have to go through this again, Here are easy, free (or cheap) ways to have a mult-layered backup so you never lose files: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back, I will have other suggestions if necessary.

Hi, and thanks for reaching out. My name is Saeid. I'll be happy to help you out today. You can try the following steps to resolve the issue:

The error message you received during system restore indicates that the restore process failed while attempting to delete a particular file. The file in question appears to be hosted on a Microsoft Community Support file store.

One possible cause of this error is that the file you are attempting to restore is currently in use by the operating system or another application, preventing it from being deleted. It is also possible that the file is corrupted or damaged, making it difficult to remove during the restore process.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue and successfully restore your system:

Disable any third-party security software or antivirus programs temporarily to see if they are interfering with the restore process.

Boot your computer into safe mode and try to perform the system restore again. This can help to isolate any issues with third-party software or drivers that may be causing the problem.

Try running the System File Checker (SFC) tool to repair any damaged or corrupted system files. To do this, open an elevated Command Prompt and type "sfc /scannow" (without quotes) and press Enter.

If the above steps don't work, you may need to perform a clean install of Windows, which will completely erase your existing files and programs. Be sure to back up any important data before attempting a clean install.

    Hello Will, how are you?

Could you give more information about the problem, please?

What exactly happened to your computer to the point of attempting a restore?

Are you trying to restore to an earlier available point?
