Constant locking up/freezing, occasional crashes, some which prevent from booting up

For the past year and half, I started to get instances where my laptop would lock up for about a minute when clicking anywhere. Some of these sessions would crash the computer and make it very difficult to boot into Windows (i.e. getting a boot device not found error, and rebooting the device to get it to work and boot to Windows), while other crashes don't affect said "boot device". These instances happen at irregular times, happening at 5 minutes to months in between.

Malwarebytes and Surfshark Antivirus found nothing malicious that could cause the locking up. The following errors (some of which I assumed it contributed to causing the freeze, due to it happening at around the same time) showed up in the Event Viewer when the freezing happened:

  • The IO operation at X logical block address for Disk 0 (PDO name: \Device\00000043) was retried.

This is a very important issue for me, because if this keeps happening every time, it gets really annoying for my computer to either freeze or crash because of this problem when I'm trying to play a video game, make pixel art, or code, since that's what I do for a living, to which my computer might become unusable in the future.

Also, this is a follow-up of my previous question that discusses the same thing, but I decided to make a new question about it anyway, since the other post was not very descriptive, had too many posts and never got replied back in a while.

What can I do to prevent my computer from doing all that while still being functional?

    Hi,

    Thank you for the minidump.

It appears you are having a problem with one of the programs on the computer or one of the Windows files.

It appears there is a problem with a Windows 11 beta installation. Did you have Windows 11 on the computer at one point?

It is showing ni_release. This is the code name for Windows 11.

Here are somethings you can try to fix this problem.

Windows has a feature that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. I have enclosed the directions below. You can cut and paste the code.

    1. Type cdm in the search box. Do not hit enter.
    2. select Run as Administrator then hit enter.
    3. Then type without the quotes. "DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth" and hit enter.

On the same page run this scan.

    sfc /scannow

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

If this does not work, you will want to do a clean start-up.

Please type msconfig in the search and open the page.

    Click on services.

Check market Hide all Microsoft Services.

    Then click on disable all.

    Then save and ok.

Go to the start-up and open the page.

    Open task manager.

    Turn off everything except Defender.

    Then restart the computer.

After you restart the computer check to see if you are still having a problem.

You can then start adding back one program at a time to find the problem program.

Once you find the problem program, uninstall it.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Cindy

    Hi Cindy B007,

The minidump has been zipped and shared: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ak5br0jCI8hDh8YQigjq1zNlSY6hXQ?e=5g1KFs

One thing to note is that I have to change permissions on unopenable folders by adding my main (and only) account on this device and ticking the box that says "Full Control". That gets a bit irritating, but it's doable.
