I am consistently getting a warning in Event Viewer with Event ID 360.  The General Notes state:

Windows Hello for Business provisioning will not be launched.

Device is AAD joined ( AADJ or DJ++ ): Not Tested

User has logged on with AAD credentials: No

Windows Hello for Business policy is enabled: Not Tested

Windows Hello for Business post-logon provisioning is enabled: Not Tested

Local computer meets Windows hello for business hardware requirements: Not Tested

User is not connected to the machine via Remote Desktop: Yes

User certificate for on premise auth policy is enabled: Not Tested

Machine is governed by none policy.

See https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=832647 for more details.

Anyone have a resolution to this warning?

    Hi, how are you ?!

We are happy with your contact!

This is a policy you can set on your machine.

Right click your start button and select run.

    Type gpedit.msc

Go to Computer Configuration> Administrative Templates> Windows Components> Microsoft Passport for Work OR Windows Hello for Business

Edit "Use Microsoft Passport for Work" OR "Use Windows Hello for Business" and set it to disabled.

Always check that you are typing the information correctly, otherwise the following messages may appear:

"Windows cannot find 'gpedit.msc'. Make sure you typed the name correctly and try again"

The Windows search for "Computer Configuration" was not found.

Checked the registry and \ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Policies \ Microsoft \ PassportForWork Enabled is set to 0.

    Use the administrator account.

    https://filestore.community.support.microsoft.c...

You need to change the setting to disabled in both:

    Computer Configuration -> Administration Templates

    And also

    User Configuration -> Administration Templates

The key reason for this is that while you might have set the Computer Configuration to be Disabled the User Configuration settings in the Group Policy overrides this and you then see the error in the event viewer. By doing this in both locations the error and issues will go away!

Have disable also the Use Windows Hello for Business policy setting in:

Computer Configuration >> Administrative Templates >> Windows Components >> Windows Hello for Business and

User Configuration >> Administrative Templates >> Windows Components >> Windows Hello for Business

    Good luck!

I made the changes as stated in your reply above but I still get the same warning.  Any other ideas that would help?

Jediael, This is the same suggestion that you previously stated.  As I stated above in your first response to my question, I tried this and it does not stop the warning from appearing in the event viewer.  Do you have any other suggestion that might work?  Thanks.

    Hi, how are you ?!

We are happy with your contact!

Please try to check this Option:

You could examine the following Technet solution and see if it works for you

    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/win...

Just to share the difference between Windows Hello and Windows Hello for business.

Windows Hello only uses fingerprint or facial recognition to uniquely identify and authenticate that user to access Windows on that device.

Windows Hello for Business is Microsoft Passport technology. It uses "Windows Hello" to release a stored credential that is used as the second factor of authentication by Microsoft Passport.

And Windows Hello for Business can only be used in AD or Azure AD. If you are implementing the policy to enable Windows Hello for Business, you can remove the GP, do not link them to the OU, so that the customer does not apply the policy. Then, remove the Windows Hello login options.

As your concern needs in-depth technical knowledge, we suggest that you post your query on the Microsoft TechNet forum page (https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/win... 8761-351e167158fa / how-to-completely-disable-windows-hello? Forum = win10itprosecurity), where community members are most familiar with the subject. There are experts and IT professionals who can provide the best solution to your concern.

    Good luck!
